Guest Blogger: Seth Apter, Collection Introduction
Hi all. I am excited to have recently released my second collection with Spellbinders. My new dies, stamps and stamp & die sets were all designed with flexibility in mind. They are abstract in nature, so that you can truly make them your own. Each of the new items works equally well in mixed media projects, art journals, cards or scrapbooks. And they are all designed to work together and to mix & match with my earlier releases.
I would love to share with you some of my favorites from the collection, along with artwork I have created and some useful tips.
DIES
The new release includes 7 new, etched dies. Here are just a few…
Hint: Cut two pieces of paper from the same die and layer them together at different angles. Use the “drop-off” to decorate your corners.
Hint: Cut multiple pieces of paper from the same die and stack together. This will create a dimensional object rather than a flat die cut.
Hint: Use the same die multiple times on any one piece to create repetition. In this case, both the die cut and the “drop-off” were used and repeated.
Hint: Cut the die twice using two different color papers. Back each of the die cuts with the opposite color. Also, use the “drop-off” from your die cuts as decorative elements.
STAMPS
My newest collection has six stamps, made up of three backgrounds and four frames.
Hint: Stamp onto a separate piece of paper. Cut out that stamp and adhere to your artwork. Change-up your stamp by cutting off segments of the original impression.
Hint: Use your background stamp to add extra detail and dimension to a painted surface.
STAMP AND DIE SETS
My newest collection includes two die and stamp sets, the first sets that I have designed.
Hint: Three is a magic number in art, so use all three of these stamps – nested in their die cut ring – for a powerful impact.
You can check out the rest of my new collection, as well as my original releases from earlier this year, in the Spellbinders online shop. They are shipping now. Hope to see what you create with the new collection soon.
