Love Cards with Elena
Hello Spellbinders Friends, Christmas Eve is almost here, and it’s time to spend these holidays with someone we love and care. This is Elena here today to share the Love Cards I made.
Sometimes we’ve got used to hear ordinary love words, so I thought how I could share it with no hearts or traditional red colors. When you are a cardmaker you always challenge yourself with new ways to surprise your beloved or friends. It’s quite easy to do with stamping and coloring techniques, so I decided to give it a try, though I don’t feel I am skilled enough in stamping. Actually, I guess that watercolors work great for initial step.
So I started with stamping the feathers from SDS–100 Feather Cool Vibes by Stephanie Low Stamp and Die Set. I used Staz-On inks, as I knew I have been going to use watercolors after, so I needed water resistant inks. Then I took my watercolors and added the water from my water brush pen. I didn’t follow any special color scheme, besides I had no idea what colors to use. But I followed mostly the colors that I used for one of my background.
To create my background I used SBS–153 Nothing But Love Stamp. I made 2 different background. The one I’ve only stamped with the teal dye ink and added the distress ink sponging. For my second card I initially heat embossed the stamped background with the white embossing powder and then played with watercolors. I mixed several colors at one card as I wanted my card to be bright and positive.
This technique works great with white embossing powder. The words Love pop up on the background. However I wanted to smooth the colors, so I covered my cards with the vellum. The blue one I chose for the background stamped with the teal, and the peach pink vellum – for the watercolored one.
Actually I didn’t want to cut a simple rectangle from the vellum, my idea was to add some flowing , that is why I die cut the edges with S4-788 A2 Waves Borders. Probably they are not clearly seen, but you can notice that the edge of the vellum is not simply torn.
As a finish touch I put the string across my card, and topped the bow with a small circle flower that I did using the same Feathers Stamp set.
Now I think that I need to practice more in stamping the background for my cards, and with the watercolors, you might have noticed, it’s quite easy to reach the unique view. And I always wonder how easy it is to create your own embellishments with the stamps.
