3D Vignettes | From 3D to Flat & Fabulous
3D Vignettes is meant to be dimensional but there’s no rule saying you can’t go from 3D to Flat and Fabulous! Hi there friends, I’m Becca Feeken with Amazing Paper Grace – I designed the 3D Vignettes Collection and today I want to show you a background I created from taking two panels, snipping them and building them around a focal point.
It’s always a delight to take a die meant for one thing and to use it for another. That’s the hook that makes me want to add it to my stash. If I know I can get extra uses from it, then it’s a good bet! The filigree detail on the bottom of the main die from S6-136 Grand Dome in the 3D Vignettes Collection is quite pretty and I thought that making it into a background might be possible. I also loved the dotted detail around the upper rim and thought it might look good if I could use that detail around a sentiment.
After experimenting, by overlaying the pieces by hand, I loved the look, so here’s what I did.
Let’s Snip
The first thing I did was snipped the tabs off of two of the S6-136 Grand Dome 3D Card panels.
Then I took a vertical snip on the right side horizontally where the dotted detail begins.
Lastly, I interlocked those two pieces so that they were mirrored and so that the dotted detail would be on top to form a lovely frame.
Next, up I stamped a sentiment onto an oval cut with S5-332 Hemstitch Ovals. It fit perfectly and simply echos the dotted detail that came from combining the two panels. Oh, and the small oval filigree piece from S6-136 Grand Dome hides all manner of snipping!
I finished with three small flowers made with S4-867 Cinch and Go Flowers III.
Amazing double duty, right? The beauty of this snipped die is that you can pull the edges out and the center will cinch in to an oval. Also, you can push the edges in if you need a panel that takes a little less real estate. Adjustable!! Give it a try!!
