5 Ways to Add Gold to Elegant Handmade Cards
We’ll wait a minute while you pick your jaw up off the floor. I mean, we totally understand. Where do you even begin? Every last bit is gorgeous, right? Let’s take a look at the details of this card – it was created live on our Facebook page, during Try Day Friday series? We’re pretty sure you’re going to run for your crafting area once you see how fun and easy this card can be!
Start With a Subtle Gold Background
Do you see that shimmery and shining gold on the card? That started with our Journey Gel Press, some dabs of Shimmer Gold Color Splash and three small dollops of our Whip Cream Acrylic paint. Use a brayer and blend it out, yet leaving a slight bit of definition. Once that is through, simply press a panel of a Color Splash Sheet to pick up all of the gorgeousness!
Add Shimmering Pattern with a Stencil
The next step is both simple AND FUN! Lay our Circle Bliss Stencil over the panel and place in an area where you can spray! Yup, you’re going to take that beautiful Shimmer Gold Color Splash and spray it over the card. Not too much, but definitely letting the gold shine in the stencil’s pattern. We’ll let it dry just a tad and then flick some of the beautiful Gold Silk over the card base.
Make a Dimensional Flower With Scalloped Circles
Now while all of that is drying we’re going to punch out and create this textured and dimensional flower! It’s easy and fun – and most of it is created with Whip Cream Cardstock. Using our punches, punch out 2 of the 2″ scalloped circles, and 2 of the 1.5″ scalloped circles. Here’s where the fun begins! We’re going to bend up and smoosh up those punched pieces, really breaking down those fibers in the paper.
Before we put the flower together, lets spray those flowers lightly (while they are still all smooshed up) with the Shimmer Gold Color Splash. Assembling those pieces into a flower is so easy. Let’s adhere the two bottom layers with a foam square, then the rest with our glue dots. Isn’t it so beautiful?
Add a Stamped Sentiment
We can put together the card after we stamp a Best Wishes sentiment and die-cut it, add a Journey Vellum circle and a sprig of foliage die-cut from our Mirror Gold cardstock.
Elegant Finishing Touches
But, lets also add a beautiful satin bow to finish this off! Tie a simple bow with our Banana Stitch Satin Ribbon. Trim the ends and then add a Sparkle Drop to add the bit of sparkle! Isn’t the combination just beautiful?
Don’t forget! A simple last splatter of Gold Silk and a few well placed Fashion Gold dots will finish the card beautifully and easily.
