Little Loves Inspiration | First Adventure with Rubeena
Hi, crafty friends! This is Rubeena from A Rare Ruby, and I’m so excited to be a guest designer again on the Spellbinders Blog today. This post is part of a series featuring the Little Loves Collection by Sharyn Sowell!
Aren’t these children so delightful? I have a card today that features First Adventure.
When I first saw this die, I pictured him in front of a blue sky. I started with my A2 cardbase and masked off a frame so I could blend in Distress Oxide ink in blue. I added some water splatters to give it a nice effect for my sky background.
I die-cut First Adventure twice using watercolor cardstock and Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine. Then I cut out the silhouette of the boy and the birds. I wanted to stack on these cuts for more dimension.
I watercolored all the cuts with Mijello Mission Gold watercolors. I mounted them over the blue background with foam tape. For the sentiment, I stamped it on black cardstock and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I trimmed it down and mounted it to the top of the card with foam tape.
This was quite challenging for me since I don’t know how to draw in details for people or birds so I had to do a loose watercolor look. It was fun to try something different for a change. I feel like these cards are perfect to uplift youth and will give this to my nephew! Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you’ll visit again for my next post featuring this collection.
