You know how we love our Try Day Friday series! Each Friday afternoon on our Facebook page, our concept designer Shannon Smith shares a new technique with you LIVE. Isn’t that so fun? This week Shannon used our PanPastels to add elegant color to a handmade card.
This week, Shannon wanted to give you some basic tips to get started with your PanPastels! They are such a fun way to color and really have some amazing results. Fun Stampers Journey sells four sets of the PanPastels and several single colors, as well. Shannon takes care to show how to blend, build and highlight in this week’s Try Day Friday.
The PanPastel sets come with 3 sponges, a foot, a big and a finger and they all have great purposes and uses. Our PanPastels are creamy and blend beautifully. When using them you will want to use a light hand and then build your color with layers. Don’t worry if you get a little color where you do not want it — you can erase it with an eraser! Isn’t that great? You don’t need to set the color, after about an hour they are set and ready to go. But, if you’re not able to have the patience, you can set the color with our Journey Heat Gun.
You know we’re in for some fun when we see the Petals Wall Embossing Folder! Shannon started the card with an embossed panel of Whip Cream Cardstock and brushed over it with PanPastels, making sure to use a light hand.
Another Whip Cream Cardstock Panel was used to stamp with Black Licorice True Color Fusion Ink Pad with the Dance Life stamp set. This is where the beautiful layering, blending and highlighting of the Pan Pastels happens. The dress becomes so lifelike and beautiful once Shannon combined three lovely shades of blue.
The dress isn’t the only spot for beautiful layering with the PanPastels! The skin tone of the dancer is a perfect way to customize the stamp – using the realistic skin tone (and hair color!) that matches your inspiration.
With all of the beautiful colors and soft blending, Shannon kept the embellishments minimal and the effect is stunning!
