How to Make a Handmade Treat and Card for Father’s Day
Boy oh boy do we have tons of fun Father’s Day inspiration for you. We love how Brittany, The Certified Celebrator, makes everything just a tad bit more special and that’s especially true for Father’s Day! Yesterday, we shared how to create fun gift bag perfect for Dad and today we not only have this adorable card, but she’s also taking handmade treats up a notch, as well. Would you like to see what we’re talking about? Then check out this video that Brittany created just for you!
Wasn’t that just too fun? Start with a premade container (check out our entire section of party goods and boxes) and making it spectacular with a couple of extra steps. What about that yummy sweet & salty mix Brittany put inside the treat bag?! We know you want to try it too, so we’re so happy to share that recipe with you!
SWEET AND SALTY PARTY MIX:
1-10.5 BAG OF FRITOS
2 CUPS RICE CHEX MIX
2 CUPS PRETZEL TWISTS
1-1/2 CUP NUTS
1-CUP PACKED, LIGHT BROWN SUGAR
1 STICK OF BUTTER
½ CUP LIGHT CORN SYRUP
1 CUP MINI M&Ms
DIRECTIONS:
PREHEAT OVEN TO 350. In a large bowl combine the Fritos, Rice Chex, pretzels and nuts. Set aside.
In a small saucepan melt the brown sugar, butter and corn syrup over medium heat. Let the mixture come to a boil and then let it boil for 4 minutes, without stirring. Remove the pan from the heat and pour over frito mixture. Stir carefully to coat everything evenly. Transfer the mix to a large cookie sheet and bake for 8 minutes. Stir the snack mix, and then bake for 8 more minutes.
Transfer the mixture to a wax paper lined counter and let it cool completely before breaking into large clumps. When cooled completely add the mini M&Ms over the mix. The mix can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
We know you’ll be creating all kinds of amazing handmade creations for the men in your life — make sure you share them with us! We love getting inspired by you – so tag us on Instagram or post your projects on our Facebook page!
