Handmade Collection Inspiration | Baby Boy & Baby Girl Cards by Ashlea
Hello everyone! My name is Ashlea and I am so very excited to be guest designing and blogging for the Spellbinders blog this month. Today is the first post of three that I will be featuring the incredible Handmade collection by Stephanie Low. I’ll be using the Creativity Handmade stamp and die set to create two cards that use the image stamps instead of a written sentiment, yet still make a clear statement.
I often stamp sentiments onto my cards to compliment the images, but I love the idea of a card where the image speaks for itself. Here, I accomplished that by using specific colored ink with the stitched heart stamp and used the bow in different orientations to make the idea of a baby girl or baby boy card very clear.
I began the pink card by stamping the stitched heart stamp included in the Creativity Handmade set in two different tones of pink in a pattern across the card front. I was sure to stamp some off of the card stock to appear as if it were patterned paper. I used Circle dies to cut out a small circle from white card stock to place my heart die cut on. After stamping and die-cutting the bow, I colored it in using Copic Markers and placed it on the top right hand side of the heart to appear as a hair bow. To create a little contrast, I used the next size up from the Circle dies and cut out a piece of black card stock to use behind the main image. I used the same techniques for the blue card, only I used the bow as a bow tie at the bottom of the heart where it comes to a point.
