Make an Interactive Sloth Card with Sliding Feature

You know how we love our Try Day Friday series!  Each Friday afternoon on our Facebook page, our concept designer Shannon Smith shares a new technique with you LIVE.  Isn’t that so fun?  This week Shannon used a really fun new product – we think you’ll love it!  You can see the video right here.  Make sure you leave Shannon a comment and let her know how much you enjoyed her lovely card.

How much do you love the little sloth from the Don’t Hurry Stamp Set?  We’re pretty crazy about this guy!  Not only that, we’re pretty smitten with the In Motion Die Set — easy to create slider cards.  How fun, am I right?  Now, let’s give a basic over view of how Shannon created this beauty!

The background is a beautiful Lovely Blue sky.  The dauber dowel helps create the ethereal effect and we love how soft it is and how fun it is to create!

Talk about getting double use out of a die cut!  Not only can we use the beautiful Summer Branch Die cut, but we can use the negative with our Kiwi Slice True Color Fusion Ink pad to create a fun stencil!

Don’t you just love it?

Now, after stamping the sweet sloth, we’ll color him in with our Journey Color Burst pencils using short hairlike strokes to make him a bit more realistic.

Remember those leaves?  They are going to be the base of our slider.  We’re simply going to place the die over the leaves and use our Journey Platinum Machine to cut the slider portion.

Now remember the Summer Branch die cut?  We’re going to trim a couple pieces off the branch, adding them on the card, careful to not cover the slider area.  We’ll also place one in that cuties hand! The other detail to note is that we’re using a penny (so easy, right?!) to create the sliding action.  Simply place a couple of small foam squares and use them to adhere the sloth!

That’s the back of the panel – you can see the little cute sloth on the other side, can’t you? Have you picked up either of the new products we talked about here?  Will you now after seeing what Shannon has created?  Make sure you share with us on our Facebook page or by using the #funstampersjourney hashtag on Instagram, we’d love to see your take on the sloth, slider cards or ANYTHING FSJ.
