Inked Messages Inspiration | Wanderlust Galaxy Card with Gemma
Hello everyone, this is Gemma from mygirllollipop.com. I am thrilled to be guest designing on the Spellbinders blog this week. I’ll be sharing projects highlighting the Inked Messages Collection by Stephanie Low.
My card today features the Wanderlust stamp and die set. When I saw this set, it made me think of Peter Pan, which inspired my card design.
I began by working on the galaxy background. I used distress inks to blend colour onto a piece of watercolour card. My go-to galaxy colours are mustard seed, picked raspberry, seedless preserves, chipped sapphire, and black soot. I added lots of water droplet details, then finished by flicking the panel with white acrylic paint to create lots of tiny stars.
Next, I stamped the compass image from the Wanderlust set onto Bristol smooth paper, and water coloured it with zig pens. The softer watercolour gives it a nice vintage look. I die cut it out with the coordinating die.
After trying different layouts, I decided to go for an offset galaxy background. I cut down the panel and added a thin silver glitter strip to the top edge, before adhering to my card base. I then stamped the sentiment from the set on the card base, to follow the angle of the background. I really love this sentiment!
‘Second star to the right and straight on ‘til morning’.
Following my Peter Pan theme, I added some metallic silver jewels for stars. I also included one in the centre of the compass, before adhering the compass to the galaxy background with foam tape.
