Mixed Media Cardmaking with Stencils and Paint
Hello, wonderful you! We’re so happy to see you and to share this beautiful mixed media card! We’ll show you how to use colorful shades of acrylic paint and a couple of stencils to create this beauty.
Start with Whip Cream cardstock for the base of this beautiful card — lay the Flower Power stencil on top and then add equal dabs of Sweet Berry, Cool Pool, Pineapple Smoothie and Citrus Cooler acrylic paints on top.
Use a brayer to spread paint across stencil – blending just enough to keep the colors from becoming muddy. We still want each of the colors to show, and not blend together too much.
Next, leave the stencil on top of the cardstock and allow paint to dry. Once it’s dry, you’re going to add another amazing layer on top – are you ready?
Lay the Vintage Screen stencil directly on top of the flower stencil and painted panel.
Add a few dabs of Oatmeal Cookie acrylic paint on top of the Vintage Screen Stencil.
Use a clean brayer to spread the acrylic paint over the stencil. This adds a layer of pattern onto the flower image. Next, lift up all the stencils and enjoy the colorful one-of-a-kind image you’ve made! We absolutely love the layers of the paint and pattern, don’t you? The beautiful design doesn’t need much more — just a a few well placed embellishments and a sentiment. That’s it!
We hope you feel inspired and encouraged to try this fun technique – whether it’s in your wheelhouse and you love getting painty when you craft – or maybe you’re just a little unsure, but feeling brave to give it a try! We can’t wait to see how you make this technique your very own as you bring paper to life!
