Make Dimensional Christmas Projects with the Christmas Sprig

You know how we love our Try Day Friday series!  Each Friday afternoon on our Facebook page, our concept designer Shannon Smith shares a new technique with you LIVE.  Isn’t that so fun?  This week Shannon is in the Christmas spirit and shared a beautiful project we think you will love!  You can see the video right here.  Make sure you leave Shannon a comment and let her know how much you enjoyed her projects and appreciate her sharing a fun project with all of us.

Don’t you just love this project? It’s dimensional and beautiful and could be used as an ornament or as holiday decor.  Heck, you could put it on a card and make someone’s day when they open the mailbox!

Shannon started by creating 3 Whip Cream cardstock panels and stamped the poinsettia image from the Christmas Sprig ATS on on one of them.  Then, using Journey Craft Glue, she glued all 3 of the pieces together and trimmed out only the bloom, working quickly as to not let the glue dry completely.

Shannon trimmed all the way down to the center so she could manipulate each center to it’s maximum ability — really giving the overall bloom a real 3-D appearance.  Each petal was bent and molded to create a realistic effect.

Once the trimming and molding is complete the artistic and fun with PanPastels begins!  Coloring the petals was done with the reds from the Mother Nature and Rich Sorbets PanPastel sets.  The green leaves were achieved with the greens from the same sets.

You know you have to add Journey Glaze!  It’s so beautiful and also really adds that extra something to the poinsettia flowers.  You know what else really adds something?  Silver Shavings!  A little sprinkle of those in the centers makes the blooms extra special!

Now, we cannot forget about the greenery!  These flowers need some leaves to accompany them and we know just how to do it.  Using both the Poppy Bud Die Set [Bloom Benefit] and the Branch and Cone Die Set, you can create some beautiful branches and leaves.

It’s all coming together so beautifully and we love the detail.  All that beauty deserves a little more spotlight than just on a card, don’t you think?

Creating a beautiful ornament or display is so easy with the Scenic Tray!  Here we used a bit of Whip Cream acrylic paint to give the box a background for the flowers that would really pop!

Speaking of pop!  Why not add an equally beautiful background to the scenic tray?  It’s so easy to do with the Stained Glass stencil & Brush Silver PanPastel on a Whip Cream cardstock panel!  This will fit in the back of the box so perfectly!

Did you see all of the Christmas projects that have been shared so far on our Facebook page?  There were so many fun ones that are really getting us excited for the most wonderful time of the year.  If you missed any make sure you go back and watch them  and share your favorites with a friend!
