‘Tis The Season Christmas Card with Piercing and Stitching
Each Friday afternoon on our Facebook page and YouTube channel, FSJ shares a new technique with you LIVE during our Tryday Friday video tutorials. This week we’re sharing a Christmas card with homespun charm, featuring the FSJ Basics Stitching Template.
The Basics Stitching Template makes it simple and fun to add pierced or stitched shapes and details to handmade cards and crafts.
Place your cardstock under the template, making sure it stays still. [If you have trouble keeping it still, you can use washi tape to help!] Then, use your Bloom Tool to poke the holes in the cardstock.
To create this card, we pierced the star shape, using the holes on the template. One of the fun tips that Shannon gave us during the Tryday Friday video is to use these flossers you can pick up at the store! No more struggling to get the thread into the needle. We’ll be stitching in no time!
To recreate this card, use Journey Thread Gold and stitch through each section of the star, leaving the center free of any thread. [Don’t worry! We’re going to decorate the center.]
The gold thread is festive for the holidays and adds a fun texture to your card!
Remember how we talked about the center? How about we add a wood heart that we “paint” gold? That’s right! Our Forever Heart Chips look oh so cute once we’ve added some of the Journey Gold Re-Inker. We like to add a bit onto a clear block then apply with the square brush. Such a beautiful way to bring color to wood embellishments!
Feeling warm and fuzzy? Ready to tackle holiday cards and gift tags? Why not check out the ideas and tips here in the video, including how to add a DIY Hoop to handmade cards, to bring together that homespun feel.
Now, for fun, Shannon created another beautiful card with the same Basics Piercing Template! It turned out really adorable with the same idea but looking different than the ‘Tis The Season card. If you create something fun using our Basics Piercing Template make sure you share with us on our Facebook page, tag us on Instagram or use the hashtag #funstampersjourney so we can see all of the FUN you’re up to!

Shannon, when you were first starting on this card, I did not think it would look good (you know you get it real from me). But, it is absolutely gorgeous. So glad your creativity expands my creativity. Thanks for all you do!
