October 2019 Glimmer Plates Inspiration | Foiling & Ink Blending with Keeway
Hello friends! It’s Keeway from Kiwi Koncepts and I’m here to share with you some projects featuring the NEW October Glimmer Plate Collection! I absolutely love gold foiling with this machine and the results are always stunning. The more I work with it, the easier it gets and it opens up for me to try these techniques with it. Today there will be lots of foiling and ink blending!
Thank You So Very Much Card
When I started to learn how to use the glimmer machine, I found it easiest to work with heat foil images that I could also die cut after. It was easy to remove small amounts of over foiling, but if I over foiled around the images too much, it would simply get die cut off! So when I started practicing, hot foil plates like the Glimmer Butterflies used here was very beginner friendly. I hot foiled several of these butterflies in gold foil, die cut using the matching dies in the set, and ink blended each one with distress oxide inks.
I hot foiled the sentiment using the Thank You Combo in gold in the top center of a piece of A2 sized white card stock. I added my ink blended butterflies all around it with foam tape. And completed the card with some gold and pink Nuvo drops.
Hello Dear Friend Card
This next card was a little bit harder in that I was hot foiling several times on the same panel and needed to make sure the decorative borders with aligned. I used all four borders of the Art Deco Borders Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and foiled it in gold onto a piece of white card stock. To keep the lines aligned, I used washi tape to keep them in place as I hot foil.
I repeated the hot foiling until I had 6 decorative borders across my panel from the bottom up. Then, I ink blended the panel from bottom up using distress oxide inks. The foiling resisted the ink blending and still shines beautifully on top of the ombre background.
My sentiment is hot foiled using the Hello Dear Friend Glimmer Hot Foil Plate on white card stock. The ‘hello’ was die cut with its matching die and the ‘dear friend’ was trimmed down to a thin strip. I used my precision scissors to cut some fishtails to the ends of this strip. The sentiment was added on to the card with foam adhesive and some nuvo drops were added for a little embellishment.
Hugs & Wishes Card
This last card uses the die cuts from Glimmer Butterflies to foil on outline images of the flowers and leaves. I heat foiled the dies several times diagonally across a piece of white card stock in gold, then loosely colored in with Arteza brush pens.
I used the dies again, this time die cutting several flowers and leaves out of gold mirror card stock. I added this along the design to give it more variations. This panel was trimmed down to 4” by 5.25” and lightly ink blended in the opposite corners. I added some gold and pink nuvo drops around the flourish.
For my sentiment, I hot foiled ‘hugs & wishes’ from the Birthday Hugs & Wishes set in gold onto pink card stock. I trimmed this down to a thin strip and added a fishtail end with my scissors. I added this to the card with foam adhesive.
