Elegant Simplicity – Circlet Doily Cards with Jean Manis
Hello crafty friends! I’m Jean, a papercrafter blogging at Right as Rain. I am thrilled to be on the blog today sharing cards created with the Filigree Drop In Circlet Doily set, part of the Dimensional Doily Collection by Becca Feeken. I created elegant, quick-to-assemble cards suitable for a number of occasions including engagement, wedding, and anniversary. Let’s take a look!
The Filigree Drop In Circlet Doily set includes 10 dies: a large circle (measuring 5” in diameter), four filigree quarter circles, four quarter-circle outlines, and a center circle. There are many ways the set can be used to create elegant papercraft creations.
On the first card, I cut the large circle from Brush Gold cardstock with the quarter-circle outline pieces inserted.
I cut four filigree pieces from Whip Cream cardstock using the filigree and outline pieces together. I cut four quarter-circle pieces from coral pink cardstock using the outline dies.
I stamped the sentiment in gold ink on Whip Cream cardstock and cut it with the small circle die in the set. I cut a mat for the sentiment circle from Brush Gold cardstock using a slightly larger circle die.
I adhered the filigree pieces to the solid cardstock pieces. I inlaid the assembled filigree pieces to the gold frame and taped the pieces from behind.
I added the sentiment to the center of the large circle. The sentiment lines are parallel to the horizontal spokes of the gold frame. I cut a 5 ½” square from light blue cardstock, adhered the circle assembly to the square, and adhered the square to a 6” x 6” card base.

Cardstock: Simon Says Stamp Sea Glass, Stampin’ Up Flirty Flamingo, Bazzill white, orange peel-textured; Mama Elephant XOXO stamp set; gold metallic ink; Adhesives: Nuvo craft glue; dot adhesive, tape
On my second card, I cut the large circle from Brush Silver cardstock with the quarter-circle outline pieces inserted.
I cut four filigree pieces from Whip Cream cardstock using the filigree and outline pieces together. I cut four quarter-circle pieces from blue cardstock using the outline dies. I stamped the sentiment in silver ink on Whip Cream cardstock.
I adhered the filigree pieces to the solid cardstock pieces. I inlaid the assembled filigree pieces to the silver frame and taped the pieces from behind. I centered the sentiment panel from behind and taped it. The sentiment lines are at 45 degrees to the spokes of the silver frame.
I cut a 5 ½” square from a peachy pink cardstock, adhered the circle assembly to the square, and added the square to a 6” x 6” card base.

Cardstock: My Favorite Things Blueberry, Stampin’ Up Petal Pink, Bazzill white, orange peel-textured; Mama Elephant XOXO stamp set; silver metallic ink; Adhesives: Nuvo craft glue; dot adhesive, tape
As I mentioned earlier, there are many ways in which the set can be used. For example, rather than cutting the filigree pieces separately, cut the filigree pieces inserted into the big circle die, without the quarter-circle outline pieces. This will create an overlay panel with the filigree detail. Use the large circle die without any inserts to cut a background for the filigree panel. Assemble the pieces and add a sentiment as desired.
Thanks for visiting the blog today. I hope you’ve been inspired to give the stunning Dimensional Doily Collection by Becca Feeken a try.

Jean has such an amazing talent for coordinating colors. These are two beautiful cards. Great die, probably lots of ways to put it together.
