Sparkling Christmas – Foiling and Die Cutting with Jean Manis
Hello crafty friends! I’m Jean, a paper crafter living in the Pacific Northwest blogging at Right as Rain. I am delighted to share cards combining two of my favorite techniques – die-cutting and foiling – using the Sparkling Christmas Collection at Spellbinders. For all three cards, I’ve used a color scheme of red, green, and gold. With this collection, you’ll create elegant and distinctive holiday cards.
Christmas Wishes Joyful Tree Card
The first two cards illustrate the versatility of the Joyful Christmas Tree die set. With the die set, I’ve crafted an A2-size card and a square 4 ¼” card which I paired foiled sentiments from the Christmas Essential Glimmer Ovals and the Christmas Essential Glimmer Squares sets.
For the A2-sized card:
- Foil sentiment in Gold using the largest plate in the Christmas Essential Glimmer Ovals set on Candy Apple cardstock.
- Cut with the largest Essential Ovals
- With the Joyful Christmas Tree set, cut detailed pieces from gold foil. Cut the insert pieces from green and Brush Gold cardstock.
- Glue detail pieces to inserts.
- Glue tree pieces to foiled oval.
- Add assembly to Brush Gold card base.

- Glue pieces together to form four rectangles.
- Tape rectangles together on back and add to green cardstock cut to size.
- Add assembly to Brush Gold card base.
- Foil sentiment in Matte Gold using smallest plate in the Christmas Essential Glimmer Squares set on Candy Apple cardstock.
- Cut with die in the Essential Squares
