Trio Of Foiled Background Christmas Cards With Jung Ahsang
Hello crafty friends! My name is Jung AhSang, and I am so excited to be back for another guest post on the Spellbinders blog. I love to make handmade cards, I’m a scrapbooker, and I like to do crafts with my 3 girls. If you’d like to follow my crafty projects, my blog is jungahsang.wordpress.com.
Today, I’m working with the new Christmas Foiled Basics collection by Yana Smakula. When I looked at all the pieces in this set, I realized that I could make some great foiled backgrounds, and include a simple, but elegant sentiment.
Happy Holidays Foiled Card
For my first card, I created a classic red card using the Christmas foliage background.
Using my Glimmer Hot Foil system, I foiled the Christmas foliage background using blush foil and red cardstock. I used the plate and foiled it twice to create a full background. To make sure I lined up the foiling on my card, I used washi tape to tape the foil and glimmer plate into position.
There are a few videos on the Spellbinders YouTube channel demonstrating foiling tips; one of the videos is called “Top 10 Glimmer Hot Foil Tips,” which you might find helpful.
On another piece of red cardstock, I foiled the “Happy Holidays” sentiment plate and a dotted circle plate. I die cut the sentiment using one of my circle dies. To assemble the card, I trimmed the background panel slightly, and adhered it to a white A2 sized card base using foam tape. Next, I used some gold thread from my sewing stash for a little texture, and adhered the circle sentiment with foam tape right on top.
Merry & Bright Foiled Christmas Card
For my next card, I created a rich green card using the Glimmer gift border plate.
I created my second card very similarly to the red card. I used sliver foil, and foiled the glimmer gift plate twice to create a full background. I used the “Merry & Bright” sentiment, and decided to turn my sentiment circle into a tag, especially since my background is filled with gifts. I punched a hole in the circle sentiment, and added a red floss bow.
Joy To The World Foiled Christmas Card
I wanted to make one more background card for my collection of holiday cards. For my third card, I used some of the foliage plates from The Christmas Organic Foliage set.
I used 5 of the foliage plates over and over, exactly as I would use stamps to create a background, and puzzle-pieced a full background. To keep all the plates from shifting while I was foiling, I used washi tape. I used gray cardstock, silver foil, and the “Joy To The World” sentiment. To add some interest to this card, I used some crystal drops.
