Instructions:
Catch step-by-step instructions for this project below. Click photos to enlarge:
- Die cut parts of house as shown. Unless otherwise noted, cut one of each.
Note: Make sure to cut and emboss house front, chimney and door: it makes all the difference in showing the detail! For the rectangular pieces used for the front and back of the house (and holds the message inserts). you can add brick details by taping down brick dies and running through to deboss the brick accents. For the message inserts, trim the sides a little so they measure 4″. Cut strips of kraft or any color cardstock and glue to back of message inserts to “color in” the letters. For the message inserts, die cut a photo, add a message, or if in real estate, a business card! Attach tabs onto message inserts as shown or as desired.
- There are 2 sets of vignette crossbars that will be placed in the top and bottom slits of the vignette side pieces. The bottom crossbars will be folded in half and inserted into vignettes “V” sides up, creating a pocket where the message inserts will sit. For the top crossbars, cut or pull apart 2 crossbars at the perforation (to create 3 single crossbars) and place in the upper vignette slits perforated side down. Use a strong adhesive, such as red liner tape, to place on side vignette tabs and then attach to the rectangular walls.
- Once the back vignette pieces are added with message inserts, glue roof with edges to the top of the house front (there is a line on the top as a guideline. Fold the perforated sides of the house front piece and place tape on the folded flaps that will attach to the front of the house: center and attach. Glue on chimney so the bottom cannot be seen when looking at the house straight on.
Now you’re ready to decorate! Attach gable, doors, windows and get as fancy as you’d like with the decorative pieces! The straight embellishment piece can be used as a window sill. Instead of where the flowers are, another window can be added. The decorative options are endless – make it your home sweet home!
This can be flattened for mailing, but a padded envelope is recommended.
