Candy Colored Christmas Cards with Maria Peters
Hello Crafty Friends, my name is Maria Peters, and I am an enthusiastic card maker and color lover from Hamburg, Germany. I love to create colorful cards with dimension. Lately I have rediscovered die cutting and have made many cards using die sets only. But I still love coloring as well. I share my cards regularly on Instagram.
I am so excited to be a guest designer for Spellbinders today. Thank you so much for your invitation!
I created three Christmas themed Cards with the brand-new Slimline Holiday Collection. For two cards, I took inspiration from the 1950s and chose candy colors. This is what I came up with.
Big Dot Ho Ho Ho Card
First, I placed a piece of light pink cardstock in the Big Dot Slimline Embossing Folder and pulled it through my die cutting machine. I was really impressed with how crisp and clear the pattern pressed into the cardstock.
Then, using the Die D-Lites Jolly Ho Ho Etched Die, I die cut the Ho Ho Ho lettering five times. 4 times from white cardstock and 1 time from red cardstock. Then I glued all letters together and adhered the lettering to my card front as shown in the photos.
Lastly, I colored the face of Santa with Zig Markers and put the Die D-Lites Santa Etched Dies together. Then I placed Santa in the center of the card, instead of the O. Some sequins and a few accents with a white gel pen give the final touch.
Chill Bear Striped Slimline Card
For my second card I used the Striped Slimline Embossing Folder in combination with the ‘Chill Bear’ Die Set to create a clean and peaceful winter scene.
Again, I started with the background first and placed a piece of dark blue cardstock in the Striped Slimline Embossing Folder and pulled it through my Die Cutting Machine.
Then I used the Chill Bear Die Set to die cut three polar bears and put them together. I love polar bears; they are such majestic and beautiful animals.
I then die cut a hill and embellished the edge with Distress Ink and glitter gel to give it that ‘frozen’ look. After the glitter gel dried, I stamped on the sentiment from the To You and Yours Stamp Set with red stamp ink.
Finally, I adhered the hill to the dark blue background, arranged the bears, and adhered everything to the cardbase with foam tape. As a final touch, I painted snowflakes on the dark blue background with a white gel pen.
Shopping Spree Slimline Card
For my third and last card I created another card with the Big Dot Slimline Embossing Folder. I paired it with the adorable Shopping Spree Die Set.
Just like with the other two cards, I started with the background first. I placed a piece of light blue cardstock in the Big Dot Slimline Embossing Folder and pulled it through my die cutting machine.
Then, using the Shopping Spree, I die cut all pieces and have put them together. I adhered all pieces on the card front using foam tape.
Finally, I stamped a sentiment from the To You and Yours stamp set on red cardstock and embossed it in white. I adhered the sentiment to the card front with Foam Tape. Then I added some sequins to add shimmer and sparkle.
I had so much fun to create these cards. It is a gorgeous release. Hope you guys enjoy what I created.
I would be incredibly happy about your visit on my Instagram. Thanks so much for taking the time and stopping by!
Hugs, Maria

Love the cards.

Like the way you used the Big Dot Slimline Embossing Folder for background as it mimics the “HO HO” – cute. That Santa face is adorable and you made a great eye-catching layout. But I find the shopping spree dies to be the cutest – and cards made using these dies bring a smile to my lips!
