Bibi’s Butterfly Collection – Card Inspiration with Annie Williams
Hi there, this is Annie Williams and I’m excited to be back on the blog today to share a couple of projects using the new Bibi’s Butterfly Collection by Bibi Cameron. The gorgeous butterfly designs, fun interactive elements, and beautiful sentiments in this collection inspired me to create three pretty fluttering cards for different occasions.
I love to create shaped cards because they are so unique and unexpected. Here I added lots of texture and sparkle to this fun card perfect for celebrating someone’s special day.
- Trim a piece of Onyx Cardstock to 7” x 10” and score and fold it down the center.
- Position the Card Base die from the Butterfly Card Creator Die Set on top of the folded cardstock so that the top tips of the wings just hang over the fold. Run it through your die-cutting machine to create the shaped card base. (You may have to run it through more than once to cut all the way through.)
- Die-cut white cardstock twice using the Card Base Inlay die from the Butterfly Card Creator Die Set. Adhere one of the die cuts on the inside of the card with a tape runner.
- Emboss the second die with the Loops Embossing Folder and adhere it to the front of the card with a tape runner.
- Secure the Geometric Butterfly Stencil over top of some Onyx Cardstock and apply a thin layer of purple, blue, and teal glitter paste through the main design with a palette knife.
- Once the glitter paste has dried completely, die-cut the stenciled design out with the Butterfly XXL die from the So Many Butterflies Die Set.
- Die-cut black glitter cardstock using the Body XXL die from the So Many Butterflies Die Set.
- Adhere the body onto the glittered butterfly with foam adhesive and then pop the whole thing up in the center of the card base with more foam adhesive.
- Apply Lavender Petal Hot Foil to white cardstock using one of the sentiments from the Yana’s Special Sentiments Plate Set and die cut it out using the coordinating die.
- Pop the sentiment up in the lower right corner of the card front with foam adhesive.
- Add Prism AB Color Essential Gems to embellish.

Like many, one of my favorite types of butterfly is the monarch, so I wanted to create a card inspired by them next. Here I’ve used both the Pop-up Butterfly Die Set and the images from the Butterfly Sentiments Stamp Set to cover this bright and cheery birthday card with monarchs.
- Die-cut white cardstock using the Large Rectangle Rim and Insert dies from the Fluted Classics Rectangles Die Set and adhere it to the front of a side-folding A2-sized white card base.
- Die cut Waterfall Cardstock with the Large Rectangle Inner Rim die and adhere to the center of the card front with a tape runner.
- Stamp a sentiment from the Butterfly Sentiments Stamp Set onto white cardstock with black ink and cut it out using the Small Circle Rim and Insert dies from the Fluted Classics Circles Die Set. Pop it up in the center of the card front with foam adhesive.
- Stamp the butterflies from the Butterfly Sentiments Stamp Set onto white cardstock with black alcohol-friendly ink.
- Color the images in with Copic markers and then cut them out using the small and medium butterfly dies from the So Many Butterflies Die Set. Cut matching bodies for the colored images out of Onyx Cardstock using the same die set.
- Die-cut Pink Sand, Rainforest, and white cardstock with the flower and leaf dies from the Butterfly Card Creator Die Set and assemble with liquid glue.
- Pop the butterflies and flowers up around the sentiment with foam adhesive and embellish the card front with Crystal Mix Gems.
- Trim two pieces of Waterfall Cardstock to 4” x 5.25” and adhere to the inside of the card with tape runner.
- Die-cut white and Onyx Cardstock using the Pop-Up Butterfly Die Set.
- Blend Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink over the solid wing layers with a sponge dauber.
- Assemble the pop-up butterfly mechanism and adhere to the inside of the card with liquid glue.
- Die cut several flowers and leaves from white, Pink Sand, and Rainforest Cardstock using the Butterfly Card Creator Die Set and assemble with liquid glue.
- Adhere across the background of the card interior.
- Add Crystal Mix Gems to embellish.

The intricate designs in the Delicate Butterfly Die Set are perfect for so many different kinds of cards and I decided to add them to a subtle die-cut background for this soft, slimline sympathy card.
- Die cut white and Mirror Gold cardstock using the Outer Rim and Flowering Insert dies from the Flowering Slimline Die Set.
- Adhere the white layer on top of the gold with liquid glue, allowing the gold layer to peek out a bit like a shadow, and glue directly onto a top-folding slimline-sized white card base.
- Stamp a sentiment from the Butterfly Sentiments Stamp Set onto white cardstock with Embossing Ink, add Spellbinders Gold Embossing Powder, and melt with a heat tool.
- Die-cut the sentiment out using the Label Rim die from the Flowering Slimline Die Set.
- Die-cut white cardstock using the large and small butterfly dies from the Delicate Butterflies Die Set.
- Blend Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch, and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink over the large butterfly and Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink over the small butterfly with sponge daubers.
- Die cut Mirror Gold Cardstock using the butterfly body and inlay dies from the Delicate Butterflies Die Set and the small butterfly and body from the So Many Butterflies Die Set.
- Assemble with liquid glue and curl the wings upward with your fingers.
- Adhere the sentiment strip in the center of the card with foam adhesive.
- Arrange the butterflies around the card front and adhere down with more foam adhesive.
