Bibi’s Butterflies Collection Inspiration with Hussena
Hello everyone! This is Hussena from Quill and Punch Works, and I am so excited to be guest designing on the Spellbinders blog today. I have three projects to share, highlighting the NEW Bibi’s Butterflies Collection by Bibi Cameron. The GORGEOUS butterflies and the wonderful sentiments in this Collection inspired me to create a set of three cards perfect for sending to your friends and family!
The Delicate Butterflies Etched Dies is my favorite die set from the Collection and I couldn’t wait to use it for my card here. I cut and colored the butterflies and flowers and added them to a glitter stenciled background for this soft congratulations card.
To create my card, I first trimmed a piece of Snowdrift Cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and lay the Geometric Butterfly Stencil stencil on top using the Best Ever Craft Tape. I then applied the Glitterati Gold Glitter Gel Paste on top to create a geometric stenciled background pattern. I turned my paper around and repeated the process on the right-hand side of the Cardstock panel to create a finished background pattern. Next, I die-cut Snowdrift Cardstock using the Geo Hex Inner and Outer Dies from the Geo Foliage Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set. Then, I applied Gold Hot Foil to the die-cut piece using the Geo Hex Plate Die included in the Geo Foliage Glimmer Hot Foil Set and popped it on my panel using foam tape for dimension.
Next, I die-cut Snowdrift Cardstock using the Large Butterfly and coordinating Inlay Dies from the Delicate Butterflies Etched Die Set. I blended Spun Sugar Distress ink over the solid butterfly die-cut with a sponge dauber and adhered the layers together using the Bearly Art Original Precision Craft Glue. Next, I die-cut Snowdrift Cardstock using the Medium Butterfly and coordinating Inlay Dies from the Delicate Butterflies Etched Die Set and colored the center of the solid butterfly die-cut shape with Peacock Feathers Distress ink and a sponge dauber. Then, I die-cut Gold Glitter Cardstock using the Large and Small Butterfly Body dies from the same set and added them to the die-cut butterfly pieces using Craft Glue.
Next, to embellish my panel, I die-cut Snowdrift Cardstock and Vellum using the flower and leaf dies included in the Butterfly Card Creator Etched Dies. I lightly colored the floral pieces with Spun Sugar and Peacock Feathers Distress inks and added gold flower centers to the pieces, which were die-cut from Gold Glitter Cardstock. Once that was done, I adhered the flowers and leaves around the foiled frame using Craft Glue. Next, I stamped my sentiment from the Butterfly Sentiments Clear Stamp Set onto some Onyx Cardstock with Versamark ink, added Gold Detail Embossing Powder, and set it with my Heat Tool. I cut out the embossed sentiment using a coordinating banner die and popped it onto my panel using foam adhesive for dimension. Then, to finish, I matted the card background panel with Mirror Gold Cardstock and adhered it down to a top-folding white card base with a tape runner.
Next, I wanted to try out the Butterfly Card Creator Etched Dies to create my own little arrangement of blooms. I added them to a bold foiled background panel for this simple and layered thinking-of-you card.
To create my card, I first trimmed a piece of Snowdrift Cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and applied Gold Hot Foil to the panel using the Diagonal Glimmer Stripes Foil Plate and the Glimmer Hot Foil Machine. Next, I die-cut Snowdrift Cardstock using the Eyelet and Perforated Border Dies from the Romantic Slimline Borders Etched Dies. I adhered to the border die-cut on my panel using Craft Glue and then trimmed the panel to size. Once that was done, I adhered a 1/4″ border strip of Mirror Gold Cardstock down on my panel for interest.
Next, I die-cut Teal Topaz and Waterfall Cardstock using the Large Butterfly and coordinating Inlay Dies from the Delicate Butterflies Etched Die Set. I die-cut the body of the butterfly using Mirror Gold Cardstock and assembled the piece together using Craft Glue. Next, I die-cut Pomegranate and Fern Cardstock using the flower and leaf dies in the Butterfly Card Creator Etched Dies. I shaped the individual pieces with a small Ball Stylus and adhered White Jewels to the center of the flowers for interest. Next, I die-cut Mirror Gold Cardstock and White Fun Foam using the Flourish Die included in the Candlewick Rosebud Etched Dies. I adhered the layers together using Craft Glue and adhered them down on my panel to complete my design.
Then, I stamped my sentiment from the Butterfly Sentiments Clear Stamp Set onto my card panel with Versafine Onyx Black ink and adhered the background panel to a top-folding white card base with a tape runner. This was so easy and fun to put together!
I really wanted to experiment and create a Mixed Media Card using the supplies from this Collection, so that’s what I did for my final project. I used the Butterfly Sentiments Clear Stamp Set to create this bold, bright, and graphic encouragement card.
For my card, I started out by wetting a piece of Watercolor Paper using clean water and then swiped some color to the wet area with a Water Brush and the Lemon Drop True Color Fusion Re-Inker to create a painterly look. Once I was happy with the look and the intensity of the color on the panel, I dried it using a Heat Tool. Next, I taped the Geometric Butterfly Stencil stencil in place using the Best Ever Craft Tape and applied White Embossing Paste on top to create a geometric stenciled background pattern. I let it naturally air-dry and then flicked some black and green paint on my panel using a paintbrush for a fun splatter effect. Once the panel was completely dry, I die-cut it using the Layer 2 Die from the Precision Layering Mini Slimline B Etched Dies and kept it aside to work on my other card elements.
I die-cut Onyx Cardstock and White Foam using the Small and Extra Small Circle Dies in the Nestabilities Standard Circles LG Etched Dies. I adhered the pieces down on my panel using Craft Glue and then die-cut Snowdrift Cardstock using the Eyelet Border Die from the Romantic Slimline Borders Etched Dies. I colored the border strips using Dove Watercolor Paint and adhered the border die-cut on my panel using Craft Glue. Next, I stamped the butterflies from the Butterfly Sentiments Clear Stamp Set onto some Snowdrift Cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black ink and then cut out the images using the coordinating dies from the So Many Butterflies Etched Dies Set. I added a light touch of color to the center of the butterflies with the Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers and then die-cut the body of the butterflies using Silver Glitter Paper. I assembled the pieces using Craft Glue and then adhered them down on my panel.
Next, I die-cut Watercolour Cardstock using the flower and leaf dies included in the Butterfly Card Creator Etched Dies and Floral Potpourri Etched Dies. I shaped the individual pieces with a Medium Ball Stylus and used the Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers to color the pieces. I also die-cut Mirror Gold Cardstock using the Flower Center dies from the Butterfly Card Creator Etched Dies and shaped the pieces using a Small Ball Stylus. Once I had all my embellishments in place, I adhered the pieces down on my panel using Craft Glue.
Next, I stamped my sentiment from the Butterfly Sentiments Clear Stamp Set onto some Snowdrift Cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink and cut out the pieces using used the banner dies included in the One Love, One Heart coordinating Die Set. I then popped the pieces down on my panel using foam adhesive. To finish, I die-cut Silver Glitter Paper using the Layer 1 Die from the Precision Layering Mini Slimline A Etched Dies and matted my card panel on it. Finally, I adhered the card panel to a side-folding white card base made out of Snowdrift Cardstock using a tape runner.
