Birthday Celebrations Collection Inspiration – A Sweet Celebration with Meg
Hello creative friends! This is Meg from Anchored By Ink and I am extremely excited to be a guest on the Spellbinders Blog. Today, I have some inspiration for you using the new Birthday Celebrations Collection. It is filled with super sweet images of cupcakes and ice cream as well as balloons and banners.
A Sweet Lollipop
My first card for you plays with the Color Block Balloon dies but not in a way you might expect. Let’s take a look!
When I first saw this die set, it looked like one of those fun-swirled lollipops! I used the Color Block Balloon dies and cut from various pink and white cardstocks. I adhered all the pieces to the balloon base layer alternating colors. To create the “wrapper”, I simply used some recycled packaging around the swirled die-cut piece and adhered to the back side using double-sided tape. The straight string or “stick” was cut twice from white cardstock for stability and positioned on the backside of the balloon.
To create my background, I used the adorable pink polka dot paper from the Cheerful Occasions paper pad cut to 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inches. The colors were just perfect for the lollipop! A smaller panel of white cardstock was embossed using the Hand Drawn Scallops embossing folder. The 2 panels were adhered together and added to a side folding A2 white card base.
The lollipop was added using liquid glue and double-sided adhesive to the embossed background. The Mini Bow was cut from pink cardstock and adhered to the lollipop. For my sentiment, I used embossing ink and gold embossing powder to stamp and heat set using the Complimentary Slider Greetings stamps. It was trimmed down and adhered with foam tape for dimension. For the final touch, flat gold sequins were added as confetti and a bit of shine.
A Sweets Celebration
I used the Slider Bar Accents to cut the ice cream and cupcake elements from white cardstock. The individual pieces were colored with Copic markers and adhered together with liquid adhesive. All finished elements were set aside as I began the background panel.
I embossed a white panel measuring 4 by 5 ¼ inches with the Hand Drawn Scallops embossing folder. The colored cupcake and ice cream images were adhered to the embossed panel and trimmed accordingly. This was then adhered to a black side folding A2 card base.
The sentiment from the Complimentary Slider Greetings was stamped with black ink onto white cardstock and cut with a small circle die. A slightly larger black circle was also cut to give the sentiment contrast in the sea of sweet pastels. I then adhered the sentiment with some foam tape for dimension and a bit of aqua thread for texture.
Make a Wish
This mini slimline card is just begging for a wish and to be blown out! I created my base out of Teal Topaz cardstock that was cut to 6 ½ by 7 inches and scored at 3 ½. I added the gold pattern paper from the Cheerful Occasions paper pad that was trimmed to 6 by 3 inches. The final layer was added by embossing a white 5 ¾ by 2 ¾ inch panel with the Hand Drawn Scallops embossing folder.
For the candles, I cut the base candle from the Slider Bar Accents and the stripes from a modified rainbow of cardstocks. The flames were cut from yellow cardstock. All the elements were adhered with liquid glue to make the striped candles. I added a bit of shimmer pen to the flames and also glossy accents for a bit of shine.
When the glossy accents were dry, the candles were evenly adhered to the white embossed panel. The sentiment from Complimentary Slider Greetings was stamped in black ink onto white cardstock, trimmed and a gold matte was added.
