Cardmaking,  Die Cutting,  Step by Step Tutorials

Winter Garden Inspiration with Bibi Cameron

Hello crafty friends, this is Bibi Cameron and I’m glad to be able to share cardmaking ideas and inspiration using products from the new Winter Garden Collection by Susan Tierney-Cockburn for Spellbinders.

As always Susan is offering beautiful designs that will allow you to create from easy compositions to very realistic pieces of artwork. I have three easy Christmas projects to share with you today.

5×7 Ice Skate Xmas Card

Perhaps one of my favorites in this release is the oversized Ice Skate die (It measures about 4-1/8 x 3-1/2 inches). Due to its size, I decided to make a  5”x7 “inches card and I kept it simple. I like to think about easy ad quick mass production ideas for Christmas cards.

For the same reason, all the die-cuts in this card are flat, with no coloring involved for time-saving and easy mailing.

To make this card, I started by cutting a piece of Dune Color Essential Cardstock for the background and I splattered it with white acrylic paint diluted with water. Then, I die-cut two ice skates out of white cardstock and the blade out of silver mirror cardstock.

I trimmed the heel and sole portion out of one of the white die-cuts and I applied Walnut Stain and Rusty hinge Distress Inks over the piece using a blending brush. I glued the blade and the sole/heel part over the white solid ice skate die-cut. Once the ice skates were done, I glued one of them to the background panel and I affixed the other one over it using dimensional foam pads.

I used the new and absolutely gorgeous Holiday Blooms Die set to die-cut decorative flowers and leaves. The sentiment is from the Winter Garden Sentiments Clear Stamp Set and it was white heat embossed on black cardstock.

C6 Letterbox Holiday Card

This is a one-layer C6 card (5-1/2” x 4-1/4” inches). To make the toppers I used the new Letterbox die set and the new Jasmine die set from this collection. I believe the letterbox will look nice by itself but I used flowers and leaves to share extra ideas.

Although the Jasmine die set will create realistic flowers, I just keep it simple and I tried to keep the die cuts as flat as possible for easy mailing. I also added a few die-cut leaves made using dies from the new and use -have Holiday Blooms Die set.

The sentiment is from the Winter Garden Sentiments Clear Stamp Set and I stamped it directly over the card front using black ink.

Helleborus Gift Bag

I wanted to make a small project and also incorporate a little bit of hot foiling. So I made a gift bag using the Gift Bag Etched Dies ( it  measures about 1-3/4” x 3-1/8”  x 4 1/4” inches).

To add a hot fold pater to the background, I used the new Plaid Tidings Background Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and for the sentiment, I used plates and dies from the Merry Glimmer Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set.

I also used Silver and Gold Hot Foil. You can’t go wrong with them. After doing the hot foiling, I then did all the die-cutting. To die-cut the tag,  I used the Create a Decorative Tag Etched Dies from a previous release. The flower and some of the leaves were die-cut using dies from the new Helleborus (Christmas Rose) Etched Dies and  I decided to use a larger branch that I die-cut using a die from the new Winter Evergreen Foliage and Ladybugs Etched Dies.

I glued all together over the tag (without thinking too much) and I attached the tag to a gift bag using ribbon.

That’s all for today. I hope you have enjoyed this post. Happy crafting.
