Holiday Cards Featuring the Winter Wonderland Collection with Carol Hintermeier
Hello! Carol Hintermeier here, and I’m thrilled to be invited to guest blog today! I’ve been card-making for close to 20 years and a fun fact about me is that my very first die-cutting machine and dies were from Spellbinders! That’s another reason why I’m so honored to be invited to Spellbinders’ blog!
I have created three cards to share with you using the beautiful Winter Wonderland Collection—one stepped-up card, and two quick and easy cards! I love how the Winter Wonderland die cuts make easy, and yet such beautiful cards!
My first card is my stepped-up card where I’ve added some dimensional flowers to create a card for that very special someone!
First, I created the card base die cutting a piece of patterned paper from the Winter Wonderland paper pad and gold metallic cardstock with A2 Matting Basics B dies. I used these dies and the A2 Matting Basics A dies for most layers on all of my cards. I also use my Spellbinders Platinum die cutting machine for all die cutting. The patterned paper is layered onto some gold brushed metallic cardstock and added to an A2 card base.
I then die-cut the dies in the Jasmine set from white cardstock and colored them with a few Copic markers. Next, I used various tools from Susan’s Garden Ultimate Tool Kit to shape my flowers and leaves and glued the layers together. I added dots of glue to the tips of the stamens, dipped them in gold glitter, and let them dry before rolling them. I adhered the flowers and leaves to the card along with two pieces from the Winter Wonderland Sentiments, which I popped up with foam squares. I decided to add some filler greenery and die-cut pine branches from the Pinecone and Evergreen Bough with Ladybugs die set.
My next two cards use paper from the Winter Wonderland paper pad along with pieces from the Winter Wonderland Sentiments and Winter Wonderland Die Cuts.
Another fun fact about me is my very first car was a Volkswagen Beetle, so, I just had to use this adorable die cut for a card! I layered some red cardstock behind the patterned paper and added a strip of the same cardstock to the card.
These Christmas Glitter Sentiment Stickers are so fun! The adhesive sticks nicely to the paper, so no glue is needed. The gold stars are also in this set to add extra shine and interest.
Those that know me, know I love snowmen for my winter/holiday cards! So, the choice was easy to choose this cute snowman from the Winter Wonderland printed die cuts set. There are so many awesome die cuts, it was kind of hard to leave the others out!
For extra interest, I added embossed lines to the card base by running the A2 Matting Basics A die and the tan rubber mat through my Platinum die cutting machine. Then I added the gold cardstock and patterned paper to the card. I used two of the Essential Arches dies to create a base for the snowman and sentiment. Foam tape adds fun dimension to the card!
I added some extra details with a clear glitter pen and gem stickers on the snowflake die cuts and the snowman’s cheeks. I used a white gel pen on the snowman’s hat, cheeks, and scarf. I think this helps him stand out from the snowmen on the patterned paper!
I hope I’ve given you a bit of inspiration for the Winter Wonderland Collection! You can find lots more of my card creations on my Instagram and on my Blog! Thank you so very much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful, and crafty, day!
