Sweet Reindeer & Joyful Santa with Vera Yates

Hi everyone! I am Vera Yates and I am so excited to be invited as a guest designer here at Spellbinders’ blog to showcase the fun & festive Santa Lane Christmas Kit. A little bit about me. I grew up in the beautiful tropical country of Indonesia but been calling Texas home for the past 27 years. I’ve always loved crafting especially paper crafting. From avid scrapbooker, I branched out to card making and to this day I still love the process and the journey. I share my love for crafting and coloring on my personal blog and on Instagram, so if you want you can find me there as @wirianta .

Well, when I got the kit, I thought of making only 5 cards, but Christmas is my favorite theme, so I ended up with a couple more. What can I say, I love Christmas.

My 1st card is using the printed framed sentiment and the sweet deer sticker. I simply adhere the framed sentiment to a colored cardstock panel, trim the panel and adhere to the card base. Finish by adding the deer sticker. Quick, easy and it’s probably my favorite with its modern look.

Oh, have I mentioned that I love deer? The deer in this kit are so sweet & I just love using them.

For my 2nd card, I picked a couple other images to go along with the deer and adhere them to the card base. Finished by stamping the sentiment from the stamp set on this kit.

And, on my 3rd card. Another reindeer card. Can’t resist it.

For this card, I used one of the patterned papers for the background. Then, I stamped the reindeer, fussy cut it, and added it to the card along with the heartwood circle to the corner. Finished by stamping the sentiment. Don’t you just love the font mix on this sentiment?

I used the reindeer stamp again on my next card.

I stamped the reindeer, fussy cut it, and put it aside. Next, I worked on the background and ink blended various color ink for the rectangle background. Trim and add to the card base. Adhere the reindeer and embellish with the snowflake puffy stickers. Finish by adding one of the cardboard sentiments.

Now, card no. 5 was definitely the one I spent the most time on. Putting together this Santa with its sleigh was a fun one with all details.

I die cut all the pieces, assembled them and then put them aside. Next, I worked on the background, where I ink blended three different blues and then speckled some white gouache paint on it. Let dry, trimmed, and adhered to the card base. Then adhered the Santa and sleigh pieces to the card. Finished by adhering the sentiment and the snowflake puffy stickers that came with the kit.

My remaining cards, like card number 1 were made with no stamping at all.

I love how the kits come with so many different sentiments, seriously, if you’re short on time and need to make the quick card you can do so, no problem. No stamping is needed to complete a card, just like the card above and below.
