Vintage Christmas Inspirations

Hello Spellbinders friends! It’s Angela Tombari here and today I would love to show you what I created with the new release Christmas Flea Market Finds, made by Spellbinders in cooperation with Cathe Holden.

Christmas Treat Bags

Since it’s a Christmas-themed collection, I thought its papers were perfect for making some treat bags. I used papers from both paper pads, Christmas Velvet, and Home For The Holidays.

I chose papers with delicate tone on tone design, one blue with small tiny flowers, one red with delicate embroidery, and the last, my preferred, with a fluffy boutis. Boutis is an old French type of embroidery.

The treat bags are cut with Arches Essential Dies from the July Spellbinders release. To make them, I folded the sheet of paper in half, I placed the bottom line of the arch die out of the paper, so that it won’t cut it and I run it through my die-cutting machine.

I decorated the bags with flowers that I fussy cut from Home For The Holidays paper pad. Then, I paired each one with a coordinating tag. To give you an idea of size, the bags are cut using the largest arch die. The tags are cut using the ninth arch die, counting from the smallest one.

For the first bag, I made a red tag. I filled in the tag stamping a Santa from Compliment Of The Season stamp set. With a piece of washi, I masked a stripe to leave space for the sentiment. I colored the white surface in red with a Copic marker. I removed the washi and stamped Compliments Of The Season sentiment, from the homonym set. To embellish, I stamped on a scrap of white paper, another Santa. I fussy cut it and adhered it on the tag with dimensional adhesive.

I did the same with the second tag. I created a background with the beautiful angel from Compliment Of The Season but first, I masked the center with a circle piece of paper. I used a few stamps from the same stamp set to create the sentiment, I added a star sequin and a ribbon from my stash, and voilร .

The third tag is featuring the beautiful Merry Christmas stamp. I stamped it in light grey and I colored brunches and berries with fine line markers. Also, each tag has a personalized reinforced ring made with Hand Made Holidays stamp set.

Christmas Cubes

The second project is a fun one, a home decore created with Square Base and Sides Bowl dies. I made two cubes out of heavy cardstock and covered them with green and red patterned paper.

I sewed them with gold thread and added a little bow with a little paper bell on the side. The sentiment is from the glimmer hot foil set called Merry Glimmer Sentiments and is foiled with Aura foil. You canโ€™t really see in the picture but Aura is a light iridescent gold and is really beautiful.

I placed the cube on top of the fireplace and they look so pretty. I think they would be cute as Christmas tree ornaments too ๐Ÿ™‚

Christmas Book

The last creation I share today was the first I created and itโ€™s a Christmas book. I started with an old book with a hardcover. On the cover, I glued the title Christmas. This is from Stylish Merry Christmas die and I cut it in gold glitter cardstock.

Then, I gathered some pretty die-cuts from the collection to create a peek-a-boo effect on top of the book. My book had some stains, so I lined it up with patterned paper.

I cut away part of the pages, to reduce the dimension and glued some pages together to give them more strength. Afterward, I prepped the pages with white gesso. Gesso covers the written pages of the book and provides another layer of sturdiness.

When everything was dry, I adhered Miscellany die-cuts on top. I placed them so that they slightly pop out of the book.

I think this could be a cute and original memory-keeping album for our December memories.
