Fall Tiered Tray and Gnomes with Karen Reátegui

Hello crafty friends, my name is Karen Reátegui and I’m so happy to be here today. I’ve been making cards for over 5 years now and most of my creations are shared on my blog, and you can also follow all of my cards and projects over my Instagram @_littleblessings_.

This project was really fun to create, a fabulous Tiered Tray with lots of elements to make some fall cards from the Tiered Tray Collection by Becky Roberts. I was inspired by a fall color palette and I tried to stick to those colors but I gave each card its own personal touch. My preferred technique was die cutting and adding a bit of shades here and there using blending brushes and Copic markers.

All the cards I have created basically follow the same steps, with a bit of variation to give each one its own style by changing colors.

Card #1

For this first card, I included the green color for a very traditional autumn color palette.

  • I die-cut all the elements on this card using different colored cardstock like Orange, Barely Peach, Timber, Green, Portobello and Mahogany.
  • I added some shading to the leaves, the flower, and some parts of the tray using ink and a blending brush.
  • I assembled all die-cut pieces on top of a white vertical folded card base to make this tray and its bright colors to pop up and make it the centerpiece on this card.
  • I also adhered the leaves in a way that they look like floating and get some dimension.
  • Finally, I added a piece of natural twine to the cutting board for a cute touch.

Card #2

For this second card, I played a lot with white cardstock for a bit of a more farm look.

  • I die-cut all the elements on this card using different colored cardstock like White, Barely Peach, Portobello, Orange, Kraft, and Mahogany.
  • I added some shading to some parts of the tray using ink and a blending brush.
  • On this card, I used the gnome die and I added color to the die cuts using Copic Markers.
  • I also stamped the “HOME, SWEET, HOME” sentiment from the Tiered Tray Stamp on top of the book die cut, using black ink, to resemble even more this farm look on this card.
  • On this card, I tried to adhere the leaves in a way that they hug a close element and get some dimension as well.
  • I assembled all die-cut pieces on top of a vertical white folded card base.

Card #3

For this last card, I tried a horizontal position and I didn’t create a try but I made this card using the gnome as the focal point.

  • I die-cut all the elements on this card using different colored cardstock like White, Barely Peach, Portobello, Orange, Kraft and Mahogany.
  • I added color to the gnome die cut using Copic Markers.
  • I added shading and some details to the book die cut using Copic markers.
  • Then, I stamped the “HOME, SWEET, HOME” sentiment from the Tiered Tray Stamp on top of the book, using black ink.
  • Finally, I placed all my die cuts at the bottom of a white horizontal folded card base, adding dimension with the gnome sitting on the book and the leaves around.
