Holiday Floral Swag 3 Ways – Christmas Inspiration With Michelle Short
Hello there, Michelle Short here to share some inspiration using the Christmas Collection. My post today focuses on using Holiday Floral Swag in three different ways.
WHITE-ON-WHITE ORNAMENT
For my first project, I wanted to go with a simple white-on-white card. I love the look of white on white and the embossing really enhances it! I started off by running a panel of white cardstock through my Platinum 6 inside the Holiday Floral Swag 3D Embossing Folder. It was then adhered to the front of an A2 white card base.
For my focal point, I die-cut the Nordic Ornament from white and gold glitter cardstock (for the topper) and adhered a blue poinsettia on top, which was cut using Cosmic Sky and Partially Cloudy Cardstock. I added gold leaves and vellum leaf fronds around it.
The sentiment from Mini Christmas Sentiment Strips was foiled onto Cosmic Sky Cardstock using Gold Foil. It was cut into a tag using Swallowtail Tags Etched Dies.
I tied the ornament and sentiment tag together using gold thread and tied in a bow. The ornament was then adhered to the card using thin foam tape. To finish off, I embellished with Gold Mix Color Essentials Gems.
ENHANCE EMBOSSING WITH INK BLENDING
For my second card, I wanted to show how inks can enhance embossing. These folders have so much dimension to them that as you add the color, the raised areas automatically become darker. It really makes the embossing pop!
I started off by running a panel of white cardstock through my Platinum 6 inside the Holiday Floral Swag 3D Embossing Folder. Using Blending Brushes, I blended on Distress Oxide Inks in Evergreen Bough, Pine Needles, and Black Soot.
I spritzed the panel with iridescent shimmer spray and then with white paint before setting it aside to dry.
The sentiment from Mini Christmas Sentiment Strips was foiled onto Blue Spruce Cardstock using Silver Foil. It was cut into a strip. The panel was adhered to an A2 white card base with thin foam tape, followed by the sentiment.
To finish off, I added Silver Mix Color Essentials Gems to embellish.
ADD DRAMA!
For my last project today, I wanted to share how amazing embossing folders are by just adding a little bit of ink on top. I found that this works best with more dramatic looks like black and gold, which I have used on my tag.
I first die-cut a tag from Onyx Cardstock and placed it inside the Holiday Floral Swag 3D Embossing Folder and ran it through my Platinum 6.
I then pressed a metallic gold ink pad on top of the tag. Pressing down lightly but multiple times to transfer the ink onto the raised areas. It was then set aside to dry.
The sentiment from Mini Christmas Sentiment Strips was foiled onto Onyx Cardstock using Gold Foil. It was cut into a strip and added to the tag with thin foam tape.
I die-cut Tweet Cardinal using gold glitter cardstock, Onyx Cardstock, and Snowdrift Cardstock. I assembled and adhered using Bearly Art Glue and added a black pearl for his eye. He was adhered to the tag using more thin foam tape.
To finish off, I tied gold thread through the top of tag and tied in a bow.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my projects today and I have inspired you with some ideas using the Holiday Floral Swag 3D Embossing Folder. Thank you so much for stopping by, have a great day!
