More Paper Quilt Cards!
Hello, crafty friends!! Brenda Noelke here from My PaperCut Creations! I’m thrilled to be guest posting on the Spellbinders blog today! I am sharing three cards using the Home Sweet Quilt Collection designed by Becca Feeken! This collection has several amazing die sets to create different quilt patterns, plus a stamp set with the perfect sentiments to accompany your quilt designs!
MINI SLIMLINE CARD
My first card is a mini slimline featuring the French Braid and Hexagon Panels Etched Die Set.
I LOVE using patterned paper with this collection!! Unfortunately, this paper pad from Spellbinders is retired, but any patterned paper would work!! I let the colors in the paper lead my color choices. I die-cut the top hexagon die in the French Braid and Hexagon Panels Etched Die Set from Pink Sand cardstock, cut it out with the panel outline die and adhered it to a panel of Silver Fox cardstock.
Next, I die-cut the stitched hexagon die from the two patterned papers and inlaid the hexagons into the negative areas of the hexagon outline die-cut panel. The gray panel was trimmed, leaving a thin border. The Orange Peel Quilt Embossing Folder was embossed onto a panel of white cardstock. It was trimmed into a 3.25” x 6.25” panel, adhered to a slimline card base, then the die-cut panel was adhered on top.
The sentiment is from the Quilty Hugs Sentiments Clear Stamp Set. It was stamped onto white cardstock with pink ink and trimmed into a narrow strip. I die-cut flowers from patterned paper and Pink Sand cardstock using dies from the November Die of the Month. The flower and sentiment strip were both popped up with foam adhesive.
A2 CARD
My second card from the Home Sweet Quilt Collection features the Patchwork Petals Etched Dies.
I let the patterned paper guide my color choices in this card also. I used the same patterned paper pad as the first card. I die-cut the quilt square outline from navy cardstock, used the outer square die to cut it out and adhered it to an A2 panel of floral-patterned paper.
I die-cut the stitched portions from the two pieces of patterned paper and Purple Mist cardstock, then inlaid the pieces into the outline design. This is just like putting a puzzle together, except you get to choose the design!
“Hugs” was die-cut from white and navy cardstock using dies from the Log Cabin Flower and Mini Quilts Etched Die Set. They were stacked and adhered together, slightly offset, then adhered to the center of the card. The sub-sentiment, from the Quilty Hugs Sentiments Clear Stamp Set, was white heat embossed onto navy cardstock, trimmed into a narrow strip and adhered under the “hugs” die-cut.
SQUARE CARD
My final card showcases the Layered Windmill Etched Die Set.
I die-cut the hexagon outline die from white cardstock, then cut it out with the solid hexagon die. I also cut another solid hexagon from white cardstock to adhere the design to. The inner stitched layer was cut from Pink Sand, Beeswax, and white cardstock. I used the flourished triangle dies to cut the flourished design into the pink and white pieces, then inlaid and adhered all the die-cuts onto the solid white hexagon. The background panel was embossed with the Orange Peel Quilt Embossing Folder onto Pink Sand cardstock. It was trimmed and adhered to a square 5.5” x 5.5” card base, then the quilt hexagon was adhered to it.
The die-cut sentiment is from the Log Cabin Flower and Mini Quilts Etched Die Set. It was cut once from Beeswax cardstock and twice from heavyweight white cardstock, stacked and adhered together, then adhered to the center of the card. The stamped sentiment is once again from the Quilty Hugs Sentiments Clear Stamp Set. It was stamped with pink ink, trimmed into a narrow banner and adhered under the die-cut sentiment with foam adhesive.
