Simon Hurley’s Succulents with Jennifer Rustioni

Hi everyone! This is Jennifer Rustioni from @armieritagli! I’m very excited to be back as a guest on the Spellbinders Blog! Today I share with you the projects I created featuring the new amazing Succulents Stamp Set by Simon Hurley and Spellbinders Coordinating Dies! I must confess that I have a black thumb, and I can’t even get succulents to survive, so I definitely prefer to stamp them rather than grow them! Lol!

GOOD VIBES

For my first card I chose to stay in my coloring comfort zone. I stamped the succulent plant with the Archival Ink Pad Jet Black on watercolor paper. I colored it with Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors and then added the shadows with a black colored pencil. After that, I realized some highlights with a white gel pen.

I die-cut the succulent plant with the coordinate die and then glued it on a white card stock with double side foam tape. I stamped the sentiments and added some self-adhesive crystals. At last, I matted my card with another white card stock.

NEVER GIVE UP

The second project I created is very easy and fun to do! I stamped the succulent plant with the Memento Ink Pad Desert Sand to have a no-line effect. I colored it with Copic Markers and then realized the thorns using a white gel pen. I die-cut it with the coordinate die.

I embossed a black card stock using the Spellbinders Tufted 3D Embossing Folder and used it as the base of my card (I’m in love with this 3D embossing folder!!). I die-cut the word “HUGS” and colored the letters with a gold acrylic marker. After that, I stamped the sentiments on two white stripes. At last, I assembled my card and added some green self-adhesive crystals.

PROUD OF YOU

The previous process was so fun that I decided to create another card in a very similar way! I stamped the succulent plant using again the Memento Ink Pad Desert Sand and then colored it with Copic Markers. I realized the thorns with a white gel pen and then die cut the succulent plant with the coordinate die.

This time, I chose to add some pink accents to my card to give it a softer effect. I die-cut the word “HUGS” and chose to use pink paper for the shadow layer base. After that, I stamped the sentiments on two stripes. I realized the background of my card negative embossing a grey card stock with the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Hot Foil Plate (I used it without foil). At last, I assembled my card, matted it with black card stock, and then added some gold self-adhesive crystals.
