Boho Birthday Cards by Spellbinders with Karen Reátegui
Hello crafty friends! I’m Karen Reátegui and I’m so happy to be back with a fun project. Today I’m sharing a trio of birthday cards that are always so useful to have on hand, and they were created using the Stitched Number & More Collection by Spellbinders.
I love stitching so these types of projects are definitely my favorite and we are always in need of celebrating someone’s birthday so giving a handmade card is a very sweet and thoughtful gesture. I have created these cards for special people, my sister, my friend Jennie and my beautiful daughter who will be turning 6 years old very soon.
As you read in the title, I added a trending style to these cards and I have made boho birthday cards, isn’t that so much fun? To get that look, you will need to work with your color palette. To make steps easier so that you can recreate these cards, they follow almost the same steps. Let’s start!
Card #1
This card is for my sister who will be 34 years old this year and she loves the boho style.
- I created this background using the Four Petal Floral 3D Embossing Folder. I placed this piece of cardstock inside the embossing folder and then ran it through my die-cutting machine. Tip: spray a little bit of water on the cardstock before putting it inside the embossing folder to avoid cracks on the cardstock.
- Using glue, I adhered the embossed cardstock to a white vertical folded card base.
- I die-cut all flowers and leaves using Sealed Bouquet Etched Dies from the Floral Reflection Collection.
- I also die cut the letters h-a-p-p-y using the Be Bold Lowercase Alphabet and Numbers Etched Dies.
- The “birthday” word was die cut out of Brushed Gold cardstock and using Yana’s Layered Script Sentiments Etched Dies.
- The number 34 and outline dies were die cut using the Stitched Number & More Collection.
- I stitched the flowers on the numbers using gold thread and once I finished stitching I added the outline die cut behind.
- Finally, I arranged all the flowers, leaves, words and number die cuts on top of the background using foam tape and glue.
Card #2
I created this card for my daughter who will be turning 6 years old in June. She loves pink so I had to use it on her card.
- The background on this card was created using the Origami Folds 3D Embossing Folder. I placed this piece of cardstock inside the embossing folder and then ran it through my die-cutting machine. Tip: spray a little bit of water on the cardstock before putting it inside the embossing folder to avoid cracks on the cardstock.
- Using glue, I adhered the embossed cardstock to a white horizontal folded card base.
- I die-cut all flowers and leaves using the Be Bold Blooms Etched Dies from the Be Bold Collection.
- The “ happy birthday” words were die cut out of Brushed Gold cardstock and using Yana’s Layered Script Sentiments Etched Dies.
- I also die-cut the letters “t” and “h” using the Stitched t and h Etched Dies from the Stitched Alphabet Collection.
- The number 6 and the outline die were die-cut using the Stitched Number & More Collection.
- I stitched the flowers on the numbers using an ivory color thread and once I finished stitching I added the outline die cut behind.
- At the end, all flowers, leaves, words and number die cuts were arranged on top of the background using foam tape and glue.
Card #3
I have created this card, especially for my friend Jennie who will be 41 years old this year, just like me.
- To create the background on this card I used the Geo Screen Embossing Folder from the Be Bold Collection. I placed this piece of cardstock inside the embossing folder and then ran it through my die-cutting machine. Tip: spray a little bit of water on the cardstock before putting it inside the embossing folder to avoid cracks on the cardstock.
- I used glue to adhere the embossed cardstock to a white vertical folded card base.
- I die-cut all flowers and leaves using the Be Bold Blooms Etched Dies from the Be Bold Collection.
- On white cardstock, I gold heat-embossed the sentiment “have a wonderful birthday” using the Just Wanted To Say Collection Sentiments Clear Stamp Set from the Just Wanted To Say Collection.
- The number 41 was die-cut using the Stitched Number & More Collection.
- I stitched the flowers on the numbers using an ivory color thread.
- Finally, I arranged the sentiment, all the flowers, leaves, words, and number die cuts on top of the background using foam tape and glue.

Karen these are all so lovely. My sibblings and I are now in the higher numbers and these examples will make the day a little less painful. Beautifully done!
