Stylish Ovals Card Ideas with Rachel Alvarado

Hello crafty friends! It’s Rachel Alvarado from RachelAlvaradoDesigns.com. I have a few colorful projects to share with you today that feature products from the gorgeous new Stylish Ovals Collection.

Stylish Oval Birthday Card

For my first card, I created an A2-sized birthday card using both the new Stylish Oval Birthday Wishes Clear Stamp Set combined with the Essential Stylish Ovals Etched Dies.

I first created my base piece by trimming a piece of Raindrop Color Essentials Card Stock to 4.25” x 11” and then scoring at 5.5” along the long side. I then used a rounded corner punch to round each corner edge. Next, I used the Essential Stylish Oval Dies to cut some oval layers from both Snowdrift Card Stock as well as some more Raindrop Card Stock. For the piece that I stamped my floral image onto, I used some Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock (my go-to paper for Copic coloring). I then stamped both my image and my sentiment with some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and lastly colored my floral image with Copic Markers.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Pinks: RV00, RV52, RV55, RV66, RV69
  • Greens: YG01, G43, G46, G99
  • Teals: G000, BG11, BG13, BG49
  • Yellows: Y11, Y13, Y15, V12
  • Purples: BV000, BV01, BV04
  • Blues: B12, B16, B18

Two-Toned Greeting Card

For my second card, I created a two-toned greeting card using the same stamp and die set that I used above. This time, I used Snowdrift, Raindrop, and Cosmic Sky Card Stock for my layers.

Instead of stamping the entire image, I used different sections of the stamp and stamped different floral pieces around my oval. I used the Essential Stylish Ovals Etched Dies to also cut a layered label for my sentiment. I adhered this label to my card with 3D Foam Adhesive Tape after I had colored my images with Copic Markers.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Blues: B12, B16, B18
  • Grays: 0, C00, C1, C3, C5

Ink-Blended Ombre Birthday Card

For my last project, I created another A2-sized card using the same two sets as the two cards above. I first trimmed a piece of Pink Sand Card Stock to 4.25” x 5.5” and then blended it with some Abandoned Coral, Tattered Rose, and Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Inks.

I started with my darkest color at the bottom left corner of my card stock and worked my way up toward the top right corner with my lightest, creating an ombre effect. Next, I added both some water spatters as well as some diluted white and black paint spatters for some added interest and texture. Once this piece was dry, I then trimmed off any harsh ink stains around the edges by re-sizing my piece to 4” x 5.25”. Next, I stamped my floral image in a few different sections onto my card with some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Lastly, I stamped my sentiment and then adhered this piece to a white A2 top-folding card base.

Absolutely love these cards, I’m waiting for the stamp to arrive, so these ideas are a good idea and technique for me. Thanks for leaving your ink and Copic marker colors. Very helpful!
