Mainly Monochrome With Michelle Short

Hello there, Michelle Short here to share three projects with you using the new Glimmer Cardfront Sentiments Collection. I don’t know about you, but I often struggle with picking out color combinations.

Whilst there are different ways to combat this (like using a color wheel), I often like to forget about combinations and go monochrome instead. Or in this case mainly monochrome, as I did add in green for the leaves!

FULL OF HUGS

For my first card, I am using the This Card is Full of Hugs Glimmer Hot Foil Plate. I love the quirky font on these sentiments! It was foiled onto a panel of white cardstock using Moondust Foil. I like to place the foil onto the cardstock first, the shiny side up, followed by the plate facing down. I then like to hold it in place with Best Ever Craft Tape before using the Glimmer Hot Foil System.

The panel was adhered to an A2-sized white card base with thin foam tape. The great thing about these sentiments is that they really make a big impact on their own. So, all I had to do was add a few flowers to the card.

I die-cut the flowers and leaves from Be Bold Blooms using aqua/teal shades of cardstock (Waterfall and Teal Topaz) to match the foil. The leaves were cut from green shades (Peridot and Rainforest) and the flower centers were from Snowdrift. The flowers were assembled and adhered with Bearly Art Glue. To finish off, I added a few Teal Color Essentials Gems.

HELLO

For my second project, I am using the Hello Blooms Stencil & Die Bundle. As you can see, not only am I sticking to mainly monochrome, I am also sticking to the floral theme! I thought it would be easier to die-cut first and then stencil.

I placed the stencil on top of the die cut, securing it with Best Ever Craft Tape. Using Blending Brushes, I blended inks through the stencil openings. I used shades of pink for the flowers and greens for the leaves and stems. There are a few layers that I did not use (the flower centers). That is the great thing about stencils, you can use the layers you want to and leave the ones you don’t!

The stenciled piece adhered to an A2 white card base with thin foam tape. The sentiment shadow was die-cut from white twice and layered up. The hello word was cut from pink cardstock three times and layered up. To finish off, I added a few Pink Color Essentials Gems.

BIRTHDAY GIFT BAG

My final project for today is a gift bag. I die-cut the Gift Bag Etched Dies from white cardstock, twice. On one of the pieces, I foiled the Best Wishes on Your Birthday Glimmer Hot Foil Plate using Lavender Petal Foil.

The bag was assembled using double sided tape to adhere the sides and base. To embellish, I cut flowers from Petite Floral Potpourri using Snowdrift Cardstock. The leaves from Delicious Decorations were cut using Peridot and Rainforest Cardstock.

The leaves were adhered to the bag with Bearly Art Glue and the flowers with foam squares. To finish off, I added Prism AB Color Essentials Gems to the flower centers.
