Peachy Garden Florals with New Lisa Horton Spotlight Collection

Hi friends! Emily Midgett here with you today on the Spellbinders Blog, and I’m so excited to be sharing a trio of inspiration using the new Lisa Horton Spotlight Frames and Florals collection that was recently released! This collection features several different versatile pieces, which you can use together or with the other products from Spellbinders. I created a trio of peachy cards with beautiful teal accents, so let’s get started with the details!

For my first project, I paired the beautiful anemone blooms from the Layered Anemone die set with the timeless lattice background from the Stitched Edge Circle Backgrounds die set.

  • Die cut the Layered Anemone blooms from Peach Sorbet and Barely Peach cardstock from Spellbinders, then lightly blend some coordinating peachy ink in the center of each die cut before assembly. Die cut the foliage from Blue Spruce cardstock.
  • Adhere the pieces together using liquid glue.
  • Die cut the circular lattice background from some shiny copper foil using the Stitched Edge Circle Backgrounds die set.

  • Blend the same peachy ink on an A2 Barely Peach card front, orienting the blending towards the lower right-hand side of the landscape card front. Splatter with copper metallic watercolor.
  • Adhere the copper foil lattice directly over the blended area using liquid adhesive.
  • Die cut a greeting from Yana’s Layered Script Sentiments die set, cutting the detail layer from white cardstock and the shadow from Spellbinders’s vellum cardstock.
  • Add the sentiment directly over the top of the lattice die cut, then arrange the flowers around the greeting with both liquid and foam adhesive for varied heights.
  • Add a peachy bow and some Aura gems to finish it off!

For my second card, I created a garden of unique coral-red irises using the Layered Iris die set.

  • To start, die cut the layers of the Layered Iris die set three times each from Dahlia, Peach Sorbet, Barely Peach, Waterfall, and Blue Spruce cardstock from Spellbinders. Adhere the pieces together using liquid adhesive.
  • Die cut the Woven Lattice Texture die cut from some pearlescent peach cardstock. The intricate die cuts beautifully on this coated cardstock!

  • To create the background for the garden, gently blend coordinating coral, peach, and pale blue ink colors on the diagonal on the white A2 card front.
  • Adhere the Woven Lattice Texture die cut to the blended background, then arrange the garden of irises over the top, adhering with dimensional foam adhesive squares.
  • Tuck a hot foiled sentiment strip amongst the flowers using foam adhesive.
  • Finally, add a few Aura adhesive gems for a bit of sparkle!

For my last project, I was heavily inspired by a card that the incomparable Yana shared earlier this week, in which she repeated lots of floral die cuts to create a unique floral background.

I decided to put my own twist on it by clustering some of the flowers together!

  • Die cut lots of Layered Anemone pieces from Peach Sorbet cardstock, then lightly blend more of the coral ink in the center before adhering the pieces together with liquid adhesive.
  • Die cut the foliage from Blue Spruce cardstock.
  • Blend more of the peachy ink around the edges of an A2 Peach Sorbet card front to create a lovely coral glow on the background.

  • Arrange the floral die cuts on the blended background, leaving some single, some hanging over the edge, and some in clusters of two or three to create interest and variation. To build a cohesive, random pattern, start with the largest cluster, then work your way down by size, filling in bare spots and rotating the flowers so that no two are in exactly the same position on the card front.
  • Trim off the excess from the flowers hanging over the edges and use the leftovers in a remaining bare spot.
  • Adhere the floral die cuts to the card front with foam adhesive squares, then tuck the foliage behind them and adhere with liquid adhesive.
  • Add a simple die cut “thanks” sentiment from the Yana’s Layered Script Sentiments set, cutting the detail layer from Blue Spruce cardstock and the shadow layer from vellum.
  • Finally, add some Aura adhesive gems for sparkle!

Well, that’s all for my projects today! The Lisa Horton Spotlight Frames and Florals collection features so many unique images that are also endlessly versatile.
