Cute Critter Cards with Bibi’s Cats and Pugs Collection
Hi, friends! I’m Lauren Taylor Made and I’m so excited to be here on the Spellbinders Blog to share with you a few cute critter cards with the new Bibi’s Cats and Pugs Collection!
When I saw the Big Cat Etched Die Set, I just knew it would make the perfect black cat and I thought it would be fun to give it a Halloween feel. I started with all of my die cutting from Spellbinders Cardstock – the cat pieces are cut from Onyx with the exception of the eye pieces that I cut from White and Fern, inside ears and nose from Barely Peach, tongue from Dahlia and the bow collar from Fern. I adhered the layers together using foam adhesive to create a little dimension between the body and other pieces of the Big Cat.
The background is made from Fog Cardstock that I embossed with the Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder and ink blended with some Wilted Violet Distress Oxide. I also wanted to add some shine, so I used the Wilted Violet Distress Spritz a few times on the cardstock. I adhered mybackground to an A2 card base followed by the Big Cat. I stamped my sentiment from the Cats and Pugs Sentiments Clear Stamp Set with black ink and used my paper trimmer to cut it down to a flag. I adhered it to the card using a mix of foam adhesive and liquid where it overlapped the Big Cat. For final touches, I added a few Color Essential Gems in Gold Mix around the card.
Now, I could not make a Big Cat card without making a card with the Big Pug Etched Dies and I thought it would be fun to make it a shaped card! I started with cutting out the outline die from white cardstock and I also used the die to cut a card base. To do this, just shift the die so that there is still going to be a folded score line at the top of the card base. I then cut the Big Pug from Spellbinders Cardstock – the dog pieces are cut from Alabaster, Dune, and Timber, the eyes from White and Onyx, the nose from Onyx, and tongue from Dahlia.
I assembled the Big Pug together and adhered it to the shaped card base, using the white outline as a guide to adhered the pieces together. The face is popped up with foam adhesive to give it some extra dimension. I cut the bandana die from some plaid paper and attached it to the Big Pug. I also cut flowers from Pink Sand, Dahlia, Purple Mist, Lilac Blossom, and Sunkissed and layered them together. My sentiment banner was die cut out of Pink Sand and Dahlia and I used black ink to stamp the sentiment. The flowers were assembled like a flower crown and around the sentiment banner and I added a few Crystal Mix Gems around the card.
For my final card, I thought I’d make a smaller pug, who is a fancy gentleman! I created my background with Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide by ink squishing and blending as well as spraying some Tarnished Brass Distress Mica Spray. I cut all of my parts from the Big Bicycle and Party Puggles Etched Dies from different Spellbinder Cardstocks – Alabaster, Cosmic Sky, Dune, Fern, Island Blue, Onyx, Portobello, Timber, and Brushed Gold. I layered all of the pieces together to make my fancy pug with a bow and top hat, champagne and glasses.
The sentiment banner was die cut from Cosmic Sky and Brushed Gold with the sentiment embossed in gold powder. I adhered my background panel to my card base and popped up my die-cut images and sentiment. I glued one glass with liquid adhesive so it looked further behind the front glass. Finally, I added a few Gold Mix Gems around the card to add some final shine as well as a white gel pen to add highlights to the glass on the card!
I hope you enjoyed my cards using the new Bibi’s Cats and Pugs Collection! I cannot wait to see what you make with the new products.

Love the cards! I need the kitty die and the pug is adorable with his/her floral crown. You could also use the celebrating pug for a Happy New Year’s card! All adorable! TFS! 💕
