Creating Personalized Note cards

Hello crafters! This is Flávia Cavaliéri and I’m so happy to be on Spellbinders blog sharing some fun scrapbooking-style note cards! I have recently been on a trip to Europe for the first time, and instead of sending postal cards to close family members, as I usually do, I decided this time to make personalized note cards using pictures of my favorite moments! And, of course, I will mail these note cards along with some fun souvenirs!

I was highly inspired by many creative scrapbookers that I have been following on social media to create these note cards. All of today’s note cards have a lot of texture and many fun elements decorating each photo, resembling scrapbooking!

Creating Personalized Note cards

To make the first note card I chose a picture taken by my husband on a boat along the Seine River. All of today’s note cards are  5” x 7” with plenty of room inside to write a personal message!

  • To make a side folding 5” x 7” card base, score a 10” x 7” piece of cardstock in half.
  • Cut a 5”x 7” panel out of Spellbinders Fruit Punch cardstock.
  • To add scalloped borders to your picture use a die plate included in the Spellbinders Heartfelt Thanks & Scallops die set. Use the second largest plate included in the set.
  • Create a base for your photo by using a piece of patterned paper from Maya’s Garden 6” x 6” paper collection by Paper Rose. Use the largest plate included in the Spellbinders Heartfelt Thanks & Scallops die set to cut it out.
  • Stamp a sentiment from the Currently 01 stamp set by Paper Rose onto a piece of cardstock that measures 1” x 5”.
  • Frame the sentiment strip with ¼” wide cardstock strips cut from a piece of patterned paper from Maya’s Garden 6” x 6” paper collection.
  • Use Paper Rose Inky Colour Embossed Die Cuts as mementos to decorate your front panel! Choose the ones that match the best the moment your picture was taken or the personality of the person in the picture!
  • Add some sparkle to your front panel with Spellbinders smooth discs sequins in the color “Rose”.
  • Adhere the panel to the card base using strong liquid adhesive.

Tip 01: Use foam adhesive to adhere your photo to the panel so it has some dimension.

Tip 02: Use a wax pencil to pick up the sequins to make the process easier.

Creating Personalized Note cards

To make this second note card I chose another favorite picture taken in Paris, and I incorporated one of our favorite things to do together: Puzzle! This note card has a lot of texture which makes it even more unique and it was a lot of fun creating!

  • Cut a 5”x 7” panel out of Spellbinders Waterfall cardstock.
  • Create waves patterns to the top section of your panel with Paper Rose Waves stencil. You can use either ink or paste for some added texture!
  • Stamp a sentiment from the Currently 1 stamp set by Paper Rose onto a piece of cardstock that measures 1” x 5”.
  • Add a piece of pattern paper from Paper Rose’s Maya’s Garden 6” x 6” paper collection to the bottom left corner of your panel.
  • Adhere the 1” sentiment strip at the bottom, making sure to nicely frame it with ¼” cardstock strips, cut from patterned paper.
  • Cut out your picture into puzzle pieces with Paper Rose Puzzle Photo Size metal cutting die.
  • Add some sparkle to your front panel with Spellbinders sequins in the color Aura Opalescent.
  • Adhere the panel to a 5” x 7” card base using strong liquid adhesive.

Tip 01: Use a piece of Press N’ Seal to hold the die-cut puzzle pieces in place as you glue them to your panel! After you die cut your photo into a puzzle, and carefully remove it from the metal plate so it all comes out in one piece, use a piece of Press N’ seal to pick up at once all of the puzzle pieces that you wish to keep together to apply liquid adhesive in the back, and quickly adhere them to the front panel.

Creating Personalized Note cards

While in London, one of my favorite activities was afternoon tea! Each day we chose a different restaurant, and since I have a sweet tooth, I simply loved the whole experience!

  • Cut a 5”x 7” panel out of Spellbinders Poppy Field cardstock.
  • Stamp a sentiment from the Currently 1 stamp set by Paper Rose onto a piece of cardstock that measures 1” x 5”
  • Add a piece of pattern paper from Paper Rose Maya’s Garden 6” x 6” paper collection to the left side of your panel on a diagonal.
  • Adhere the 1” sentiment strip at the bottom, making sure to nicely frame it with ¼” cardstock strips cut from patterned paper.
  • To add scalloped borders to your picture use a die plate included in the Spellbinders Heartfelt Thanks & Scallops die set. Use the second largest plate included in the set.
  • Create a base for your photo by using a piece of Spellbinders Mirror Silver cardstock. Use the largest plate included in the Spellbinders Heartfelt Thanks & Scallops die set to cut it out.
  • Use Paper Rose Inky Colour Embossed Die Cuts as mementos to decorate your front panel!
  • Embellish with Spellbinders Fashion Silver Embellishments!
