I have the pleasure of sharing Day One with you! There’s both written and video instructions for each day at Spellbinders. I decided to go with a non-traditional palette for my cards. I love to use different colors for Christmas. But at the same time, I adore traditional colors.
For my first card, I used the 12 Days of Stitchmas Stitch Along Add-On Kit to make my card. I cut 3 snowmen out of Snowdrift cardstock. For one snowman (the center), I added the stitch insert dies for both his tummy and hat. I used a double layer of Snowdrift cardstock to make my diecut sturdy before stitching on it. I stitched both diecuts with the mint-colored DMC floss from the stitch along kit. For the hats and the scarves on the snowmen, I used Teal Topaz, Pink Sand and Dahlia cardstock from the stitch along kit as well.
I then trimmed a card panel to 3.75 X 5 inch in Waterfall cardstock. I stamped the sentiment “Let It Snow” from the exclusive stamp in the stitch along kit with black pigment ink centered on the bottom of the panel. I used Spellbinders Foam Strips to pop up this panel on my A2, top folding cardbase. Then I used Spellbinders 1mm & 2mm foam squares to adhere my snowmen to the panels with the stitched snowman in the center.
I first adhered the stitched snowman dressed in Teal Topaz cardstock accessories with a combination of Spellbinders foam adhesives. A combined 1mm and 2mm foam squares to make my center snowman 3mm high. I then adhered him above the stamped sentiment on the lower middle panel. Next, I adhered a non-stitched snowman dressed in Pink Sand cardstock accessories with 1mm foam to the right side of the card panel. Lastly, I adhered another non-stitched snowman dressed in Dahlia cardstock accessories with 2mm foam to the left side of the card panel. The final result is a cluster featuring a snowman trio! The middle snowman will the highest die-cut in the trio. I then added white pearls from the kit on each snowman’s nose and on the corners of the card panel.
For my second card, I stitched a snowman on Pop-Up White Glitter Foam with DMC black metallic thread. I then stitched a black hat with DMC red floss. I added a red scarf using Poppy Field cardstock. Then I added a graphite gem for the snowman’s nose. I also adhered the arms to the back of the snowman’s body as set it aside.
Next, I assembled the right-facing candy cane from the Candy Canes and Holly Dies using Pomegranate and Snowdrift cardstock. I added Christmas florals from the Parcel & Post Christmas Decorations Dies. I used both Pomegranate and Forest cardstock for these florals. I also stamped, heat embossed and fussy cut a sentiment from the stitch along kit stamp on Onyx cardstock with white embossing powder and set it aside.
I then created my shaped A2 cardbase. I die cut two A2 scalloped panels from the largest die in the Make A Wish Arch Labels Dies using Forest cardstock. Then I scored one of the arched panels ½ inch down from the top and adhered the cardbase to the top panel from the back using Bearly Art Glue. This created a top-folding A2 card.
Next, I diecut a matting layer using Sage cardstock from the same die set. I glimmered this smaller arched panel using the Sprinkled Confetti Press Plate with Opaque White hot foil roll. After glimmering that panel, I inked the edges with some spruce ink to match the Forest cardstock and set it aside.
Next, I created a layer for the inside of the card by die-cutting a piece of Snowdrift cardstock with a smaller arched die from Make A Wish Arch Labels Dies. I stamped sentiments from the exclusive stamp and added a bow along with pine with berry diecuts from the Parcel & Post Christmas Decorations Dies.
Now unto assembling the card. First, I glued the inside arch with the sentiment inside the cardbase. Next, I worked on the front of the card. On my shaped A2 cardbase, I added the glimmered matting layer. Then I adhered the candy cane to the lower right side of the card, snipped off the excess and decorated that right corner with holly and berry diecuts. Next, I adhered the stitched snowman right above the candy cane to look as if he’s riding on it. Finally, I added the embossed sentiment. I tucked some winter florals behind the top portion of the sentiment. And popped it up with dimensional foam squares.
This brings me to the end of my cards. I hope you like these fun holiday cards! If you would like to see more of my cards, I would love to have you join me on my YouTube channel, A Creative Muse and Instagram. Just received mine today and was starting to panic…the arms, nose and hanger die where missing….but I then opened day 2 and 3 and found the arm die and hanger die had fallen out of the plastic zip bag and where in day 3 pocket (right below day 1) so grateful! Loving this Advent so much, so glad I purchased again this year, I almost didn’t…what was I thinking, lol.
