Hello Crafty Friends!  This is Cheryl Penner (aka Artsy Island Girl) and I’m so excited to share Day 8 of the 12 Days of Stitchmas with you.  I hope you have been enjoying the surprise found in each day as much as I have! Today, we have a stitching ornament die as well as a stitching pine sprig die as well as a holly and poinsettia die.

These dies are perfect for Holiday cards and I love the extra texture the stitching adds to the die cuts.

Spellbinders Stitchmas Day 8

My First card is created with a Traditional Color palette using Fern, Peridot, Poppy Field, White and Gold Cardstock from the Stitchmas add-on kit.  The pine sprig is stitched with Gold floss and the ornament die is stitched with 2 strands of the variegated red floss from the add-on kit.  The Background of the card is created using the Vintage Ornaments Embossing folder for a little texture in the Background.  A sentiment from the Stamp set in the add-on kit is stamped and heat-embossed on the inside of the card using Gold Embossing powder.  The stitched ornaments are “hanging” using strands of the gold floss taped in place with Best Ever Craft tape before gluing the ornaments to the front of the card with Bearly Art Glue.  While adding the Pine sprig, Holly and Poinsettia to the top of the card front, I use my fingers to shape the pieces to give them some extra dimension.

For the second card, I chose a non-traditional color palette of Waterfall, Pink Sand, Dahlia, and Silver Cardstock from the add-on kit.  The pine sprigs are stitched with the darker teal floss and the ornament is stitched with the lighter teal floss.  For a different card base, I created a shaped card using the Fresh picked labels and tags die set and chose a smaller die from the set to create the background with the Evergreen embossing folder.  The pine sprigs are glued down flat without shaping for this card but the poinsettia flowers are shaped before adding them to the card front.  Bows made with the dark teal floss finish the top of the ornaments and an aquamarine gem added to the center.  The darker poinsettia is finished with a Pearl in the center. A sentiment can easily be added to the inside of this card as well.

I hope this gives you just a bit of inspiration on a couple of ways you can use to set from Day 8 of the 12 Days of Stitchmas.  Come back tomorrow for some more creative inspiration for Day 9!
