Cardmaking,  Embossing

Taking the Sleek Beveled Sentiments and Making them Grungy

Hi friends!  Cassie Trask here to share a few cards!  Nothing gives quite the wow factor that a 3D Embossing folder, but I want to show you how I used the beautiful, sleek and simple 3D Beveled Sentiments A2 Cardfronts to make these fall-inspired grungy cards. I’m all about the clean-cut look of cards, but every once in a while I like to challenge myself to step outside of my usual card.  Today was the day to do it!

Beveled Hello A2 Cardfront

  • Grab your favorite distress inks and using the Beveled Hello A2 Cardfront 3D Embossing Folder, rub those inks onto the inside of the embossing folder, the side with the Spellbinders logo.
  • Spritz a couple of mists of water in the inside of the embossing folder and emboss a piece of watercolor cardstock.
  • Heat set your panel with your heat tool.
  • Lightly rub a white pigment ink pad over the top of the embossed letters. It’s okay if a little ink gets on other places beyond the letters.  That adds the grunge.
  • Cover the panel with detail white embossing powder and use a small dry paintbrush to wipe away any excess powder. Now heat set that until the powder is smooth and melted.
  • This is the time to add extra color with blending tools. You may want to intensify the colors you’ve already put on your panel, or add some brown inks to the edges.
  • Die cut images from Autumn Wonder from Snowdrift cardstock and ink blend the colors you want onto your pieces using a blending tool.
  • Assemble everything onto an A2 white card base and spatter with white paint.

Beveled Happy Birthday A2 Cardfront

For this one you’ll follow the same steps, however, I chose to use some yellow and orange distress inks for this beauty. Using the Beveled Happy Birthday Cardfront 3D Embossing Folder is such a great way to make a bold birthday card.

Tip: Trust the creative process when attempting grungy looks.  You may get discouraged as you go but just keep going.  It’s only paper!

Beveled Thanks A2 Cardfront

Once again, I used the same process to create this card, but I chose some beautiful blue distress inks for this card, and I love the vibrancy! I’m always in need of thank you cards so the Beveled Thanks A2 Cardfront 3d Embossing Folder is perfect.

Tip:  If you don’t want to make these into Fall cards, look for other dies such as the Envelope of Wonder, Christmas Wonder, or Halloween Wonder.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I sure hope this post makes you want to get a little inky!  Feel free to tag me at CassieTCards over on Instagram.  I’d love to see your take on these grungy cards.
