Bring Some Crafting Joy to Your Cards with Rosie’s Card Kit – Oh Joyful Day

Hello friends! It’s Marie here from Marie Nicole Designs. I am always so excited to create Christmas cards and today’s collection, Oh Joyful Day, is so fun and cheerful!

I was able to mix and match patterned papers, stickers, and die cut images and make four colorful and festive cards. Let’s take a look!

MAKE A WINDOW

For my first card, I grabbed the red paper with a subtle pattern and I cut an oval window. I then added a piece of clear acetate in the window. I wanted to show off those gorgeous clear stickers so used the one that says “All is calm, all is bright”. The scripty font and the shiny gold foiling looks great against that red paper.

I also wanted to add more sparkle, so I splattered some gold paint around the window. Then, I popped up the whole window panel over another patterned paper to create the background for the window. The last thing I did was add the branches and poinsettia flowers to decorate the frame of the window.

SPRINKLE SOME JOY

My second card I wanted to make a shaker, so I again used some clear acetate and I sewed three edges down, leaving the fourth edge open. I sprinkled some confetti into the pocket I just created, and then I sewed up the last edge.

I love the look of those clear foiled stickers on acetate, so I used the gold snowflakes from the sticker sheets and added them to the front of the card. I also used the stickers for the sentiment. I grabbed the JOY stickers, and then I also layered the phrase, “may your season sparkle” over the letters.

WREATH AND WINDOW

I decided to do another window, but this time add a wreath around it. I cut out a circle from the lovely plaid patterned paper, and layered the green evergreen tree paper behind. I also picked out a variety of different flowers and branches from the die cut collection, and did my best to arrange them around the frame of the window.

For the sentiment, I again used the clear stickers. This time, however, I did not add acetate to the window. I just added the stickers to the background showing through the window.

I also grabbed one of the darling little self-adhesive buttons from the collection and added it to the front. The buttons vary in size and each one has a different image in the middle. I thought the house looked so cozy and inviting.

To finish this card with a bit of sparkle, I added a few sequins; the same kind I filled my shaker with!

GET A BONUS CARD WITH PAPER SCRAPS!

After creating my first three cards, I was left with some paper scraps that were just too pretty to neglect! I cut them into pieces that would be easy to work with and layered them on the front of my card. Then, I layered some of the flower and leaf pieces over the paper on one side of the card.

After the flowers were in place, I ran my paper through my sewing machine to add stitching to the edges. The stitching along with the paper pieces gives a kind of quilted look, don’t you think?

To finish the card, I used some of the clear stickers again as sentiments, running along the side of the red paper panel. The letters are tiny, but I like the big bold flowers as a contrast.
