Festive Florals Three Ways
Hello there! Lisa Tilson is here with you today on the Spellbinders blog. I’m so thrilled to be here to share three ways with the Amaryllis Christmas Collection by Yana Smakula. Another beautiful release from Yana that includes a set of Amaryllis etched dies, a press plate and stencil bundle (the press plate is also available without the stencil option), a 3D embossing folder, and a fabulous BetterPress sentiment set.
Joy To the World
For my first card, I am keeping it simple and using Yana’s Amaryllis Etched Dies and the Home for Christmas Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set.
- Die cut the shadow layer from Yana’s Amaryllis Etched Dies from vellum using the Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine.
- Add some double-sided adhesive sheet onto a panel of Matte Metallic Cardstock (from the Gold Assortment Treasured Cardstock Pack) and die cut the outline die.
- Remove the adhesive sheet and adhere the gold outline piece onto the vellum shadow piece.
- Add some double-sided adhesive sheet onto a panel of heavyweight white cardstock and die cut the outline die again. The thicker card will help to keep the petal pieces from falling out and keep them in place for you to add your color.
- Using a small detailed blending brush, add Pinkfresh Bubble Gum Dye Ink onto all of the petals. Do not worry about going over the white frame as you will be moving each of these blended pieces from that outline die cut. I blended two layers of ink on each petal, making sure I faded the first layer out towards the end and then going in again with the same ink just to darken some areas.
- Carefully remove each ink-blended petal and adhere them into your gold frame. They will have adhesive sheet on the back, so are very easy to adhere onto the vellum without any warping.
- Using Matte Gold Glimmer Hot Foil and the Glimmer Hot Foil System, foil the Joy to The World sentiment from Home for Christmas Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set and cut it out with the coordinating die
- Die cut two extra layers from white card and adhere the three together using Bearly Art Glue. This will make the sentiment more solid and give you some dimension.
- Take the bow from Bouquet Full of Joy Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month and foil it using Matte Gold Glimmer Hot Foil. Cut it out with the coordinating die and adhere it onto your amaryllis.
- Take a panel of white cardstock and splatter some gold metallic ink across the background.
- After the panel is dry, adhere your amaryllis using thin foam tape and then the sentiment using Bearly Art Glue.
- Finish by adding a Pink Color Essential Gem into the center of the bow and adhering the panel onto a top folding heavyweight A2 white note card.
It’s The Most Wonderful Time of The Year
For my next card I used the Festive Poinsettias BetterPress and Stencil Bundle, along with the Home for Christmas Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set.
- Take a panel of Hammermill cardstock and foil the Festive Poinsettias BetterPress Plate using Matte Gold Foil and the Glimmer Hot Foil System. Foiling your press plates gives beautiful results and helps to stretch your supplies.
- Place the foiled panel onto your sticky mat and line up your first stencil. Using blending brushes, blend Pinkfresh Studio Sparkling Rose Ink through the stencil to color the poinsettias.
- Keeping the first stencil in place, use Altenew’s Berrylicious Fresh Dye Ink to add color to the berries.
- For stencil two, blend Pinkfresh Studio Bubble Gum Ink through it. This is the second layer of petals.
- Stencil three was blended with Pinkfresh Studio Raspberry Bliss ink. This is also a layer which colors the remaining petals.
- On stencil four, I used Altenew’s Rocky Shore and Mocha Fresh Dye Ink for the pine cones, along with Warm Sunshine Fresh Dye Ink for the flower centers.
- Stencil five adds colour to the stems and I used Pinkfresh Studio Olive Ink for this.
- Stencil six adds color to the leaves and I used Pinkfresh Grassy Knoll and then Key Lime ink for the darker areas.
- Die cut your beautiful finished panel using the largest die from Essential Arches Etched Dies. Cut two more layers from white card using a smaller arch etched die and adhere them all together using Bearly Art Glue. You could also use foam tape here but I am using up some scraps of cardstock!
- Foil a sentiment from Home for Christmas Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set using Matte Gold Foil and the Glimmer Hot Foil System. Cut it out with the coordinating die.
- Cut two extra layers from white card and adhere together for stability and then glue onto your foiled panel.
- Add the foiled arch panel onto an A2 top folding note card and finish by embellishing with Pink Color Essential Gems.
Christmas Wishes
For my final card, I am sticking with my pink and green color scheme and this time I used the Amaryllis Garden 3D Embossing Folder along with one of my all-time favorite Christmas die sets – Christmas Bird Poinsettia Etched Dies.
- Take a panel of white card and die cut it using the largest die from Essential Diamonds Etched Dies.
- Spritz the diamond on both sides with some clear water. This helps to soften the fibers and prevent cracking when embossing.
- Place it into the Amaryllis Garden 3D Embossing Folder and run it through your Platinum 6 Die Cutting machine.
- Making sure the diamond panel is completely dry, using blending brushes, blend Pinkfresh Studio Olive, Key Lime and Grassy Knoll inks towards the bottom.
- Blend Pinkfresh Sparkling Rose, Bubble Gum and Raspberry Bliss from the top down, making sure to leave the center of the diamond white as pink and green do not mix well!
- Using a mini ink blending tool, gently add Hero Arts White Pigment Ink across the raised areas of the embossed panel and set aside to dry.
- Take the Christmas Bird Poinsettia Etched Dies and die cut the poinsettia (twice) and some leaves from white card.
- Blend Pinkfresh Sparkling Rose ink across both poinsettia pieces. Next, blend some Bubble Gum ink and finish with adding Raspberry Bliss ink into the centers. Adhere both pieces together using Bearly Art Glue and set to one side.
- Adhere your diamond panel onto a top folding A2 white note card using foam tape.
- Put some foam tape behind the center of the poinsettia and adhere it on top. Add your white foliage pieces behind the poinsettia using Bearly Art Glue.
- Die cut the Christmas Wishes sentiment from Handmade Sentiments Etched Dies using white card. Die cut the banner again using Matte Metallic cardstock (from the Gold Assortment Treasured Cardstock Pack).
- Offset the two banners and glue them together and then add across your poinsettia.
- Finish by adding some Gold Mix Color Essential Gems for some pretty sparkle.
