Felt Stitch & Create Collection with Larissa Heskett
Hello, Crafty Friends. Larissa is here today to share some Inspiration using the Felt Stitch & Create Collection by Nichol Spohr. SWOON! This Collection is amazing and I’m in love with all of the different images to choose from, especially the Candy Cane and the Gingerbread Boy & Girl. There are so many ways that you can use these sets to create cards and more. If you’ve never tried stitching dies and aren’t sure they’re for you that’s okay, they can also be used without Stitching. Let’s get started.
I started by die-cutting the pieces for the Candy Cane using the Felt Candy Cane Etched Dies from some of the White Felt and Red Felt from the Holiday Collection and some Pink Felt from the Warm Collection. I wanted to create a Sweet Holiday Gift Set and Stitched the Candy Cane to a 5X7 Muslin Gift Bag using some Embroidery Thread. (Red~DMC 816, Pink~DMC 3125, White~DMC 101)
Next, I die-cut the Holly Leaves and Berry Cluster from some of the Red and Green Felt from the Holiday Collection. I wanted to add a Shadow Layer to the Holly Leaves so I die cut the leaves from both the Light and Dark Green Felt and then Layered them and Stitched them together just following the Stitching Holes on the top layer. I love the way they pop. (Red~DMC 816, Green~DMC 3345)
Then I added some Gold Jingle Bells to the center of the Felt Berry Cluster using hot glue, but you could stitch them on too of you don’t like using hot glue.
Then I adhered the Holly Leaves and the Berry Cluster to the Candy Cane using more hot glue, but again you could stitch them on too. I added a sentiment banner that I hot foiled using the Mistletoe Greetings Set in Gold Glimmer Hot Foil.
I created a card to coordinate with the gift bag using the same exact candy cane with the holly and berry cluster. I wanted an embossed background so I used the Joyful Candy Canes 3-D Embossing Folder and I chose to use the debossed side of the cardstock for my card panel. I created a mini slimline card (3 5/8 X 6 1/2) as it fits the candy cane image perfectly. Then I added some of the Yasutomo Pale Gold Japanese Watercolor Splatters for some added sparkle.
I adhered the candy cane image to the card panel using some liquid adhesive and then I finished it off with another sentiment banner using the same Mistletoe Greetings Set.
I love how this set turned out, and I think it’s a very special way to create a gift for someone this Holiday Season. There are lots of different gift bags out there, and if you sew, you could even create your own bags using a fabric that you like.
My last project shows how you can create a Sweet Gingerbread Girl Shaped Card. You could even use these for gift tags if you wanted. I started by folding a piece of cardstock in half and then I placed the Gingerbread Man Die at the top of the fold making sure that the very top of the Dies Cutting Edge is hanging over above the fold line on the cardstock. Then I ran it through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine.
Once die cut you’ll end up with a Gingerbread die cut shaped card. SQUEAL. I just adore shaped cards and you could create these shaped cards using any of the die sets from the Entire Collection.
Next, I die cut all of the images from the Felt Gingerbread Boy & Girl Etched Die Set from some of the Red, Green, and White Felt from the Holiday Collection and Brown and Pink from the Neutral Collection. I Stitched everything together using Embroidery Thread. I wanted some sparkle so I added some beads to the necklace and the Holly Berries. (Red~DMC 816, Pink~DMC 3125, White~DMC 101, Brown~DMC 975)
Then I adhered the Pink Cheeks, White Frosting, and Wiggly Eyes using liquid adhesive. I love how all of the details bring this shaped card to life.
I finished off the Inside of the card with a sentiment banner again using the Mistletoe Greetings Set in Gold Glimmer Hot Foil.
I hope these projects get you excited about creating some Holiday Cards & Gift Bags for those special people on your List.
