Deal Me Few Cards for Multiple Occasions

Hi everyone, Ilina Crouse here, and I am thrilled to be on the Spellbinders blog again. I spent a lot of my youth playing cards with friends and family. They were the days when social media didn’t exist, and we were “forced” to give each other undivided attention 😉 When I saw the Jack of All Trades Collection by Jacee Gaspar it brought a lot of fun memories from my childhood and had so much fun creating the cards I am sharing today.

Jack of All Trades collection by Jaycee Gaspar is available on January 10th 2025.

There are so many amazing products in the Jack of All Trades collection that I had such hard time choosing products for each card. Once I made my decision for the products for each card, I picked a color scheme and decided to keep it sort of consistent through all three cards.

For the main colors I chose coral, aquas and accents of gold, but added other colors as I saw fit. I decided once again to go outside the box and use non-conventional colors for playing cards.

Happy Birthday Card

For this card I decided to create one resembling a King of Hearts.

To make the card start by die cutting the elements from the Reversible Royal Court die set to create the king. Die cut pieces to create two kings, as you recall the king is in a way a reversible image, and the die set is designed to create these reversible images. Assemble both kings. Using some Best Craft Tape connected them both and set aside.

From the Pip & Rank die cut the K twice and the heart four times from coral colored cardstock. Adhere two of the hearts on the armor of the king.

Next, using Matte Gold Glimmer Foil and the Shuffling Sentiments BetterPress plates hot foil few sentiments on white and pale coral cardstock. For this card we will use the Happy Birthday one. Trim it to a strip.

Using foam tape adhere the sentiment across the kings image following the angle of the die cuts.

Now, we only need to create the background and assemble the card. For the background use Fog cardstock and the Deluxe Deck BetterPress plate with pale gray ink to create a very subtle background.

Use one of the A2 Matting Basics A and B Card Creator die sets to cut the panel little bit smaller than A2 ( 5 ½” x 4 ¼”) size. Use corner rounder punch to round the corners.

Using foam tape adhere the king image. Add Peach Blush rhinestones on the crown. Adhere the K and heart on the upper left and lower right corners.

Create an A2 card base from pale coral cardstock ( I used 5 ½” x 8 ½” piece of cardstock scored in half).

I love adding dimension to my cards, so again I used foam tape to adhere the entire panel to the card base. If you like less dimension, you can adhere it with regular (non-dimensional) adhesive of your choice.

We’re Two Of a Kind card

For this card I again used the Shuffling sentiments and Deluxe Deck BetterPress Plates. When creating the first card I foiled way more sentiments than I needed, and foiled on pale coral cardstock, which we will actually use for this card.

To make this card start by foiling the Deluxe Deck plate using Matte Gold foil on pale coral cardstock. I used the A2 Matting Basics A Card Creator die set to cut it to A2 size as it allowed me to perfectly center the background, then trimming it with a trimmer. Set aside.

Die cut the hearts from the Kaleidoscope Noble Suits die sets in corals and aqua tones, with the last, most intricate layer being cut from matte gold cardstock.

Assemble the hearts. Set aside.

Die cut one of the rectangles from the A2 Matting Basics A and B Card Creator die sets that fits both hearts from white cardstock and round the corners.

Adhere the hearts, then using foam tape adhere the sentiment “We’re Two of a Kind” that we foiled on the pale coral cardstock.

Using foam tape adhere this layer to the hot foiled background. Add Peach Blush rhinestones.

Adhere the whole panel to a white card base.

I am in love with the BetterPress system and also with the press plates that allow you to add different colors thanks to the registration templates, so of course I had to use the Color Mix Joy Registration press plate. I used to press the JOY in red, aqua and green inks. Once pressed fussy cut the word.

Press the supporting sentiments using black ink and cut them into strips using your paper trimmer.

Next, for the background I used pale gray cardstock and Starshine Background Etched die to add some texture to it for more interest.

Once the background panel was die cut, using foam tape add the cut JOY and supporting sentiments. Next, use the older Christmas Blooms Etched Dies to add some florals and greenery.

To finish off the card adhere the panel to a note card and add embellishments of your choice.

Shuffling in Some Love and Laughter card

Same as the Happy Birthday card  I used the Reversible Royal Court die set, the Shuffling Sentiments and Deluxe Deck BetterPress plates, and the Pip & Rank die set.

For this card I decided to use the elements to create the Queen, but only once.

Die cu tall the elements to create one queen, also die cut a club. Assemble the queen and add the club on her right shoulder. Set aside.

Next foil the Deluxe Deck BetterPress plate using satin mint/aqua hot foil and die cut it using the the A2 Matting Basics A and B Card Creator die sets to be a little bit smaller than A2 ( 5 ½” x 4 ¼”) size.

Die cut smaller rectangle from vellum that would fit the image and sentiment.

Using one of the sentiments that we foiled earlier, die cut it with the banner die from the Shuffling sentiments BetterPress and Die set. Also cut the banner tails from white cardstock.

Assemble the banner.

Using foam tape adhere the Queen and the sentiment to the vellum rectangle. Adding some adhesive on the back of the vellum only where the image and sentiment are (so it’s not visible) adhere it to the foiled panel.

To finish off the card, using foam tape adhere the panel to a white card base and add some Satin Gold sequins and Peach Blush (on the crown) rhinestones as last finishing touches.

Such darling cards! I really like the color combinations. Although I am not a card player, I can see lots of uses for these with a fairy tale theme.
