Three Fun-Fold Cards Using Simon’s Space Adventure Collection

Hello! Jen Kotas here today with three cards featuring the Simon Hurley Simon’s Space Adventure Collection. There are three die sets in this collection plus a 3D embossing folder that works with the Scout machine.

All three fun-fold cards can be created using an 8 1/2 x 5 1/2” piece of cardstock. Two of the three cards can be made using pre-made cards. You’ll need two panels of 2 3/4” x 7” for all three cards.

To create this gate-fold card, score a piece of cardstock cut to 8 1/2 x 5 1/2” and score 2 1/8” in from each end with no score at the center. One side has a straight edge panel embossed with the Starry Night 3D Emboss and Cut Folder. The other side features an embossed panel with the die-cut edge that overlaps the center.

The rocket ship from the To The Moon Etched Dies is adhered to only the right side of the card but lays across panel. All die cuts on these cards were cut from white cardstock, colored with inks and spritzed with metallic sprays.

The long sentiment from Space Greetings Etched Dies spans from the top right to bottom left then finishes inside the card.

The z-fold card is scored at 2 1/8” and 4 1/4”. Fold the smaller section out. For this card, I used a die cut edge for both embossed panels. One is adhered to front while die cut edge hangs over the fold. The second is adhered to right edge with die cut edge hidden until card opens.

I used the Layered Starry Night Stencils along with inks and metallic sprays. The sprays ran under the stencil but not much.

The easel card is scored the same as the z-fold card but the front score line is folded in. The card uses two panels like the others but only one has the die cut edge. Before stenciling the embossed panels, I added a dark blue ink all over. When I added stenciling, I used an ink that would show up over dark ink. I also added metallic sprays.

The spaceship die cut from UFO Friend Etched Dies is adhered only to the bottom half of the card. I also added the sentiment from Space Greetings Etched Dies and the planet to a strip of acetate that is adhered behind UFO. I die cut the sentiments for all cards three times, inked one set then adhered together for dimension. The extra dimension of the inside sentiment helps to prop the easel card open.
