Space Adventure Birthday Celebration Cards
Hello Crafty Friends, Heejung Hunsberger here! I’m thrilled to be returning as a guest designer for Spellbinders this month again! I think this collection is perfect for those who have kids or grandchildren who love space themes! I had so much fun making the cards featuring the Space Adventure Collection. If you’d like to get to know me better, visit my blog or follow me on Instagram. Additionally, I have a YouTube channel where I regularly post video tutorials. Love You to the Moon and Back Start by cutting out the background using a Starshine background die on black brushed cardstock. The brushed cardstock has a slight sparkle, giving it a space-like feel compared to regular cardstock. Then, apply white paint with a brush to create a splattered effect. I used white pear watercolor. Cut out the moon using the To the Moon die on the cardstock of your choice. Color the moon with yellow ink to create a three-dimensional effect. Finally, cut out the “Love You to the Moon and Back” letters using the gold brushed cardstock. This die is from the Space Greetings Die Set, and it can be cut into two layers. I used black brushed cardstock for the bottom layer, which matches the background. Space Birthday! First, cut out the background using a Starshine background die on white paper cardstock. In addition, mix dark blue, violet, and light blue ink and splatter it with a blending brush. Spray water on the blended paper to create a natural color blend and pattern. Cut out the stars from the To the Moon die set on silver mirror cardstock. Next, cut out the moon from the To the Moon die set and Saturn from the UFO Friends die set on blue cardstock and yellow and orange cardstock, respectively. Cut out Saturn’s rings using vellum paper. Cut out a large circle from gray cardstock. Use a splattered embossing folder to create a planetary surface texture. Then, color it with gray ink to add dimension. Finally, cut out the birthday greeting message using the dies from the Space Greetings die set on silver brushed cardstock. Attach it below the planet to complete the card. Greetings Earthling First, emboss an A2-sized indigo cardstock using the Starry Night 3D embossing folder at an angle. On the embossed paper, spray white pearl watercolors, and then attach gold mirror cardstock stars to create the background. For the planet, cut a circle using a gray cardstock die and emboss it with the Splatter embossing folder to create a textured surface. Cut out the UFO, Saturn, and the moon using colored cardstock, and attach them to the background. For the alien, cut it out from green cardstock and blend the edges with a marker to create dimension. Then, add highlights with a white gel pen. Finally, cut out the alien greeting word using a silver cardstock die and attach it to complete the card. While making these cards, I enjoyed using my stashes to create textures of the planet. I plan to create more cards with my stashes for this collection in the future. I hope these cards inspire many of you. Happy crafting! XOXO, Heejung
