Go Glam with Gorgeous You
Hey there, crafty friends! Marie here again from Marie Nicole Designs. I am thrilled to be back on the Spellbinders blog to bring you several card designs I created using the GORGEOUS YOU collection!
All three of these cards feature the Cross My Heart embossing folder to add texture and interest to the background, and then I mixed and matched the dies and the Better Press sentiment plate for some fun designs. Let’s take a closer look.
My first card features the florals from this collection, GORGEOUS YOU FLORALS. In my personal opinion, you can never go wrong with florals. They are beautiful on your cards all on their own, and they pair beautifully with other dies and images.
I cut out a pile of the florals from white cardstock, and then colored them with some ink. Then, I glued the bits together to assemble the flowers. I wanted to frame my sentiment so I arranged them into an oval over the background that is embossed with the CROSS MY HEART folder.
After my flowers were arranged and glued into place, I used the Better Press sentiments, FLAWLESS SENTIMENTS, and pressed them onto a piece of cardstock I cut from the perfume bottle die, GORGEOUS YOU PERFUME BOTTLE. You will see a card featuring the perfume bottle further on in this post!
To finish this card, I popped the sentiment up on foam adhesive right in the middle of my floral frame, and then added a few sparkly gems to the flowers for more glam!
For my next card, I again started with the CROSS MY HEART embossing folder but this time used it on black cardstock. I had some flowers left from my first card so I decided to also use them on my second.
I know I mentioned the PERFUME BOTTLE earlier in the post. Here it is on my card as a shaker! I thought with a bottle, how cute would it be to fill it?
The die set comes with the bottle shape and then several nesting layers that you can use to cut out the center or add layers on top. I used the dies to cut out the center, and then add an acetate window and fill it with sequins. I think the shaker turned out so cute, don’t you?
The set also comes with shaped that you can cut out to be a stopper for the top, and even this gorgeous bow. I used a combination of pink, black, and gold for this bottle. The bow is cut from black cardstock but I brushed some gold glitter on it so it has a gilded shine as you tip it in the light. And of course, I layered those leftover florals around the bottle.
I finished this card by adding the sentiment, but as I didn’t want the sentiment on a white paper, I pressed it onto black paper with embossing ink and then heat embossed it with gold embossing paper. I love that you can do multiple techniques with the Better Press plates such as embossing and foiling!
My final card was so much fun to create. I used the GORGEOUS YOU MAKEUP die set to cut out all these makeup items for layering onto the card. I used some of my own makeup packaging as inspiration for colors and textures to use.
I also snuck in that embossing folder again by embossing onto a piece of yellow paper and then cutting at an angle, so I could also have some black cardstock peeking through on one side. I again used the PERFUME BOTTLE layer to Better Press my sentiment on, and then added it in the middle of all the gorgeous makeup on foam adhesive.
This would be such a fun card to give to someone who loves makeup and glam, or to add with a gift of makeup or perfume or a gift card to your favorite makeup store. Lots of options!
