Cardmaking,  Die Cutting,  Embossing

Oh, Hello Gorgeous

Hi everyone, Ilina Crouse here, and I am thrilled to be on the Spellbinders blog again, this time around featuring the Gorgeous You Collection. Having two girls who are just getting into make-up and all things pretty, this collection was right down my alley, and I had so much fun playing and making cards using the products.

All the products from this collection are amazing and I had such hard time choosing products for each card. I especially love the Make Up Bag die set, as it includes inserts to make it into a gift card holder and a connector piece to make a shaped card. I thought these additional dies were genius.

Once I made my decision for the products for each card, I picked a color scheme and decided to keep it sort of consistent through all three cards.

For the main colors I chose pinks, browns and matte gold, but added other colors as I saw fit. I decided once again to go outside the box and use non-conventional colors for playing cards.

Before I started creating each card, I decided to foil bunch of sentiments using the Flawless Sentiments BetterPress plate and die set using Matte Gold and Pink Satin foil and white and black cardstock. I will only use four of them on my cards, and save the rest for later use when I need a quick sentiment,

Happy Birthday Purse Gift Card Holder Card

I LOVE shaped cards and the Gorgeous You Makeup Bag die set was perfect for it, and the connection piece in this die set had to be put to use and make a coin purse-shaped card that is also a gift card holder, using the insert for it, too!!!

To make the card start by die cutting the base solid shape one with the gift card insert and one without from pale pink cardstock. Die cut the connection piece once from the same pale pink cardstock.

Die cut the purse shape again, but this time using the base die and the intricate design insert, two times using dark brown cardstock.

Adhere the base and intricate pieces together, make sure you are not putting adhesive around the area where the gift card would slide in. Set aside with something heavy on top, so they flatten out especially if you are using liquid adhesive.

In meantime, die cut the trim and closure for the purse from matte gold cardstock twice. Die cut flowers, stems and leaves from pinks, gold and green, using the Gorgeous You Florals die set. Assemble the flowers. For the smaller flowers instead of the die-cut centers use some Smoky Topaz Gems.

Die cut the sentiments we foiled at the beginning using the coordinating die. We’ll use two of them (one on the outside and one on the inside)

Adhere the gold trim on both purse pieces. On the piece that will be in front on the inner side the closure die cuts. You can first adhere them together, the die is symmetrical, so they will match perfectly, so you see the fold from front and back.

Using the connector piece on the top of coin purse, connect (adhere) both pieces together to create the shaped card.

Adhere the sentiment using foam tape, then arrange the florals around it. On the inside adhere the second sentiment strip (do not use foam tape on the inside as the card will not close nicely)

All Kinds of Amazing card

For this card I again used the Gorgeous You Makeup Bag, but this time to only add texture/interest to the perfume bottle from the Gorgeous You Perfume Bottle Die Set.

To make the card, start with a piece of light pink cardstock and die-cut only the intricate insert from the makeup bag, leaving enough space on top to fit the perfume bottle top.

Now, center the perfume bottle, so the design goes only to the neck of the bottle and die-cut it. Die cut the bottle one more time from matte gold cardstock and adhere them together.

Die cut the top, the bow, flowers from the Gorgeous You Florals and the middle-sized label from matte gold and shades of pink cardstock (green for the leaves)

Die cut one of the sentiments we foiled at the beginning (with pink satin foil) using the smallest bottle label die.

Adhere it to the gold one.

Fully assemble the bottle, add the bow and label and add the florals around to embellish it. Set is aside.

Using the Cross My Hearts 3D Embossing folder, emboss A2 piece of brown cardstock. Spray with iridescent sparkle spray. Set aside to dry.

Adhere the embossed panel to A2 card base, then using foam tape adhere the perfume bottle to finish off the card

Happiness Looks Gorgeous on You card

For this card I decided to incorporate black and also little bit of pale blue to resemble clear container/packaging. The main star of this card is the Gorgeous You Makeup die set, and I tried to use majority of the elements from it.

To make the card star by die cutting all the elements from browns, pinks, gold, blue and cream cardstock and assemble the makeup.

Next, cut A2 piece of black cardstock. Arrange the makeup around, making sure it goes of the panel. Using foam tape adhere each piece. Trim off what is hanging off and use those pieces to fill any gaps around the edges.

Next, cut several from the smallest flowers from the Gorgeous You Florals die set and add a gold half pearl in the middle instead of the die cut centers. Adhere them around to fill the empty spaces. Add more gold pearls to fill in the design.

Use one of the foiled sentiments on black cardstock and die-cut it using the smallest perfume bottle label. Die cut the middle label from matte fold cardstock. Adhere them together with foam tape, then adhere to the panel.

Adhere the entire panel to a white A2 note card!
