You Are All Kinds of Amazing
Hello crafty friends! Lisa Tilson here with you today on the Spellbinders blog. I’m excited to be here to share some ways to use the Gorgeous You Collection with you. This is a very pretty collection that includes four sets of dies, a 3D embossing folder and a press plate sentiment set and it is all about making yourself look and feel gorgeous! There is a lovely perfume bottle die set, a pretty cosmetic bag die set along with some dies for you to create items of make up! There is also a beautiful floral set which you can use on its own or you can add the flowers as accents to the other sets.
I’m itching for Spring and with that in mind I have gone with one of my favourite colour palettes – teals, yellows, aqua and white.
You Are All Kinds of Amazing
So, let’s start with that fabulous perfume bottle. It is called Gorgeous You Perfume Bottle. The main part of the bottle has lots of layers, so you could turn this into a shaker card if you wanted.
- Start off by die-cutting the different elements of the perfume bottle. I used Waterfall and Teal Topaz Colorwheel Cardstock, 80lb white card, vellum and some white glitter cardstock from Spring Tones Glitter Cardstock. The white glitter card is used for the stopper and the bow.
- Adhere the bottle together using Bearly Art Glue. Leave the vellum layer off for now.
- Take the Flawless Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set and press one of the sentiments onto Porcelain Cardstock using BetterPress Black Ink and the BetterPress Letterpress System.
- Cut the sentiment out with the coordinating die. Adhere it to the vellum piece and then add both onto the front of the bottle. This way you can hide your adhesive behind the sentiment.
- Take the Little Blooms Etched Dies and die cut the flowers from Rainforest, Peridot, Saffron and Beeswax Colorwheel Cardstock. Glue the flower centres onto the flowers and then add them onto the front of the bottle using foam tape and Bearly Art Glue.
- I wanted a subtle background behind the perfume bottle so I thought I would foil the Cosmos Backdrop Press Plate. I tried a couple of options before I settled on Opal Glimmer Hot Foil on a white card. It is definitely subtle but in the flesh, it’s gorgeous when you tilt the card to the light! I love using Opal Foil. it looks great on any colour of cardstock and enables you to add all sorts of interest to your card even if it is a busy plate.
- Adhere your foiled panel onto a top folding A2 white note card.
- Pop your perfume bottle on top using foam tape and then add Fashion Oyster Color Essential Pearl Dots onto some of the little flowers. In hindsight I wish I had added a large pearl to the knot of the bow. There’s usually something I wish I’d done after the fact, but this is an easy one to fix!
The Best Is Yet To Come
For my next card, I wanted to create a bold and busy floral card so I used the Gorgeous You Florals Etched Dies and went to town with my Platinum 6!
- Start off by die cutting the flowers and leaves from Beeswax, Saffron, Waterfall, Teal Topaz, Rainforest and Peridot Colorwheel Cardstock.
- Die cut the flower centers from white and start to assemble the die cuts.
- I didn’t have a deep orange for the centers of the two largest flowers, so I die cut the base layer of the large round flower from white and added my colour using Y38 and YR24 Copic Markers before adhering the petals on top.
- Foil a sentiment from Flawless Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set using Opaque White Hot Foil and Raven Colorwheel Cardstock.
- Trim the sentiment down with a paper trimmer and add a double layer of thin foam tape onto the back.
- Die cut a white panel of cardstock using the largest die from Perfect Touch Rectangles and Tag Etched Dies.
- Adhere your sentiment into the middle and then start the process of arranging the flowers around it. This always takes me a while and I take a photo once I am happy so I can recreate it.
- Adhere all the different pieces using a mix of foam tape or glue and then finish by adding some Crystal Mix Color Essential Gems into some of the flower centers and around the rest of the card.
For You
For my third card I wanted to use the oh-so-pretty Gorgeous You Make Up Bag Etched Dies. I am going to give this card to my niece with a gift card inside for her to buy some makeup. She will love it!
- Start off by taking a 4.25” x 5.5” panel of dark teal cardstock and emboss it using the Cross My Heart 3D Embossing Folder.
- Add this panel onto a horizontal top folding A2 white note card and set it to one side.
- Die cut the make up bag using Waterfall card for the top layer and Teal Topaz for the background layer.
- Die cut the zipper and clasp from Matte Metallic Silver Cardstock and then assemble the pieces together using Bearly Art Glue. Add it onto the embossed panel with some foam tape.
- Die cut some flowers from Gorgeous You Florals Etched Dies using Beeswax, Saffron, and Rainforest Colorwheel Cardstock.
- Die cut the flower centre and tag from white card and the little silver chain from Matte Metallic Silver Cardstock.
- As I did previously, I die cut the base layer for the large round flower from white card and added my deep yellow centre colour onto it using a Copic Marker.
- Add the flowers and tag onto the make up bag using a mix of foam tape and glue.
- Finish by adding some Fashion Oyster Color Essential Pearl Dots onto a couple of the flowers.
So that brings us to the end of the cards for today. I hope that you have enjoyed seeing them and they inspire you to create with this lovely unique collection of fun products!
