Paper Makeup with Gorgeous You!
Hello there, Michelle Short here and I am delighted to be back on the Spellbinders blog using the new Gorgeous You collection. This fabulous collection features fun makeup sets, florals, perfume, and coordinating sentiments, plus a beautiful embossing folder too!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
My first card uses Gorgeous You Florals, Cross My Heart 3D Embossing Folder, and Flawless Sentiments.
To make this card:
- Die cut Gorgeous You Florals Etched Dies from Waterfall, Teal Topaz, Blue Spruce, Peony, and Ultra Pink Cut the flower centers from Beeswax, and the leaves/stems from Peridot and Rainforest cardstock.
- Assemble and adhere flower parts using Bearly Art Glue.
- Place 4.25” x 5.5” panel of Pitch Black Cardstock inside Cross My Heart 3D Embossing Folder and run through Platinum Six.
- Adhere panel to A2 sized card base made from Pitch Black Cardstock.
- Adhere leaves and stems on top with Bearly Art Glue. Adhere flowers with thin foam tape.
- Hot foil Flawless Sentiment Press Plate:
- Cut White Glimmer Hot Foil to size.
- Place on top of Pitch Black Cardstock, shiny side up.
- Place Flawless Sentiments Press Plate on top of foil, design side down.
- Hold in place with Best Ever Craft Tape.
- Place on Glimmer Hot Foil System platform, plate side down.
- Press button and wait until it goes solid green. Remove the platform from base and then place back into base to reset the timer. Press button again.
- When solid green, remove platform from base, place shims on top and run through Platinum Six.
- Carefully remove plate and tape from cardstock, being careful not to touch the hot plate.
- Die cut sentiments using coordinating die.
- Adhere ‘happy birthday’ sentiment on to card using thin foam tape.
- To finish, embellish with Berry Color Essentials Gems.
TOP TIP: When hot foiling press plates (like the sentiment), I like to heat up the platform twice. I seem to get a better impression that way. I also hold my plates down with tape, like I would when die cutting, this prevents the plate moving when running through my machine, but find out what works best for you and your machine!
TREAT YOURSELF
My next card uses Gorgeous You Makeup with Flawless Sentiments and Gorgeous You Florals. This makeup set is so fun! You can create makeup in any colour combinations you want and mix and match to your heart’s content!
To make this card:
- Die cut Gorgeous You Makeup Etched Dies from Ultra Pink, Pitch Black, and Antique Ivory Cut the metal/silver bits from Silver Matte Metallic Cardstock.
- Adhere pieces together to create brush, lipstick, and mascara.
- Adhere makeup to an A2-sized white card base with thin foam tape.
- Adhere sentiment from Flawless Sentiments, that was hot foiled when creating the first card, on top using thin foam tape.
- Die cut flowers from Gorgeous You Florals from Peony and Ultra Pink
- Die-cut leaves from Mini Blooms and Sprigs from Peridot and Rainforest
- Adhere leaves behind flowers and then onto the card.
- To finish, embellish with Silver Mix Color Essentials Gems in the centers of the flowers.
FOR YOU
For my last project, I’m using Gorgeous You Makeup Bag. This is such a fun set as it can create a shaped card. Whilst this is meant to be a makeup bag, I decided to create mine to look a little bit more like a purse.
To make the card:
- Die cut base layer of bag twice from white cardstock.
- Die cut hinge from white cardstock and adhere to both base layers using double-sided tape, to create the card base.
- Die cut base layer again, but this time with pattern insert inside, from Pitch Black Cardstock.
- Adhere a patterned layer to front of card base.
- Die-cut hardware for the bag from Silver Matte Metallic Cardstock. Adhere using Bearly Art Glue.
- Die cut bow from Gorgeous You Perfume Bottle Etched Dies from Ultra Pink Cardstock, twice. Adhere layers together for extra stability and dimension.
- Die cut ‘for you’ tag from Gorgeous You Makeup Bag Etched Dies from white cardstock, with the eyelet cut from Peony Cardstock. Adhere together.
- Die cut tassel from Peony and Silver Matte Metallic Adhere pieces together.
- Thread DMC Diamant Metallic Thread through both the tag and tassel and adhere end of thread behind bow.
- Adhere bow, tag and tassel to card using Bearly Art Glue behind bow, and thin foam tape behind tag and tassel.
- Die cut flower from Gorgeous You Florals from Ultra Pink Cardstock and leaves from Mini Blooms and Sprigs from Rainforest Cardstock. Adhere to card.
- To finish, embellish with Silver Mix Color Essentials Gems and Fashion Silver Embellishments on the clasp.
TOP TIP: There is a gift card insert die in the set so that you can make the card into a gift card holder. I did not add this option to my card as I wanted to wait and see who I would send this to first. You can cut the back of the card and hinge and wait to assemble them when you know if you want to use it as a gift card holder or not.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my projects today and I have inspired you to try playing with makeup in paper form! Thank you so much for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day!
