Simple & Sweet: Watercolored Critter Cards

Hello, crafty friends! It’s TaeEun here today, excited to showcase the adorable House Mouse Creative Day critter stamp collection. You may know me from my blog, Rainbow in November, and also that I absolutely love coloring with all kinds of mediums. So, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to create some watercolor cards with this collection!

The House Mouse Creative Day collection includes four cling stamp sets featuring sweet house mouse images that can be used for various occasions. For today’s post, I created three cards using three of the sets: Creative Day, Top Notch Birthday, and Healing Thoughts.

I stamped the Creative Day image in black pigment ink, Top Notch Birthday in light brown ink (with the mouse in violet), and the Healing Thoughts image in gray archival ink. All images were stamped on watercolor paper before I began painting.

  • After watercoloring the image, I fussy-cut the top outline and die-cut the bottom into a circle.
  • I watercolored a background panel in yellow and orange, cut it into a matching circle with the image.
  • To create a circular card base, I cut two circles—one from yellow cardstock and one from white cardstock—and attached them together at the top using double-sided tape.
  • I adhered the smaller watercolored background and the fussy-cut image to the card base using foam tape.
  • For the sentiment, I curved the stamp to match the circular border, cut it into a banner, and added it with foam tape.

  • I ink-blended the edges of the watercolored panel in yellow and orange, then die-cut it using the Scallop Labels and Tag Etched Dies set.
  • I also ink-blended a white panel in an ombré brown-to-orange gradient and die-cut it using a larger die from the same set.
  • Both panels were layered onto a dark brown card base using foam tape for dimension.
  • The sentiment was heat-embossed in white on an orange ink-blended strip, trimmed into a fishtail banner, and added to the card.

  • I stamped one sentiment directly onto the watercolored panel.
  • A second sentiment from the set was stamped in violet on watercolor paper, die-cut using the A2 Distressed Edges die set (discontinued), and adhered to the card with foam tape for added interest.
